Diving the Great Barrier Reef
On May 3rd myself and my friends flew from Canada to Cairns, Queensland, Australia to discovering the Great Barrier Reef. We stayed at the Queensland Court Hotel for week. One of the activities we did were scuba diving lessons for four days and we visited the Cairns Tropical zoo as well as Barron Falls. Continue looking at my site if you want to read about these places.

GREAT BARRIER REEF
The Great Barrier Reef is the largest collection of reefs in the world. It is very diverse because it has over 1500 species of fish, over 4000 species of molluscs, 215 species of birds, 2195 known plants, and 400 species of coral. There are also 6 different types of turtles. Even though there are many plants and animals there are many threats to the eco-system. For example, one of the big threats is global warming. For if the water is too warm the animals will have to migrate away to a place where there is a batter climate for them to live in. Another threat to the environment is pollution because its declining the water quality for all the wildlife within the great barrier reef. Lastly, there is coral bleaching. Since there is a lot of pollution in the water there is less Zooxanthella. Zooxanthella is what gives coral reefs and bright colours. Zooxanthe also helps with the process of photosynthesis, so if there is no zooxanthe the coral won't be able to survive.
