Pi Day Virtual Assembly
Orange Pod Continues the Tradition of Pi Day Competition!
Even though Pi Day (3/14) fell on a Sunday, the Orange Pod celebrated in style on March 15th.
Students spent the weeks leading up to Pi Day by assembling links that represented the digits of Pi.
In total, students from Mrs. Wenzel’s, Mrs. Fuller’s, and Mr. Goodwin’s classes assembled over 1500 digits of Pi! To kick off the festivities, Mr. Rupp battled Mrs. Berry in the traditional Frisbee Catching Competition.
Mr. Rupp has been an undefeated champion in the event, until this year, when Mrs. Berry won by a score of 36 to 34. Watch the youtube video to see all the action! https://youtu.be/UxEgeQF7yZE
The students of Orange 1 and Orange 2 competed in 2 epic battles of Kahoot. In addition, the students participated in a scavenger hunt to find various circular items with the final item being an actual a pie!
In the end, the Orange 2 team defeated the Orange 1 team by a score of 8 to 7!
Thank you to the students of Orange Pod that participated in our annual competition.
Owl Pellet Dissection
Mrs. Gibson's class dissected an owl pellet in class and virtually. They found many bones inside, like skulls, and other parts of the small rodents the owls consumed. Once they removed the tiny bones, they used a reference sheet to identify the bone parts.
Fernwood Orchestra
The Fernwood Orchestra has been rehearsing and working hard to prepare for their spring concert. This week, students were able to work with student teacher, Ms. Johnson, from Rowan University! Ms.Johnson is a vocal major who is also studying graduate level conducting. It was a real treat to have Ms.Johnson work with the orchestra and share her knowledge! The orchestra concert will be on May 27th!
