The Wave Liar
Emon was a young boy who was very adventurous, but also was a liar and never listened to directions. Finally one lie and not using directions has a huge impact on Emon and everyone else that lived on the island with him.
One day two boys, Emon and his friend were on the beach and kept challenging each other to see who was the better man whether it would be in running, swimming, climbing or digging they could do it about the same. Later that day Emon bet, “if I can ride a wave with my bare feet I will be the best man.” Emon’s friend agreed although Emon lied, he surely could find a way. Emon said, “In 48 hours come back to this exact beach and you will see me riding a wave.” After Emon’s friend left he thought of an idea, “I can find Poseidon and he will give me the special powers to ride a wave.” Once Emon found Poseidon he begged and pleaded to but the god would not let him. Emon finally thought of an idea. He told Poseidon “please let me because, today is the last day my dad is going to be on the island and I want him to remember me by riding a wave. Even though this was a lie Poseidon didn’t know that so he taught Emon everything you need to know to ride a wave. Poseidon kept repeating that you shall never go to close to the shore because something horrible will happen. Although Emon wasn’t listening like he always does and didn’t hear that. Finally Poseidon got Emon on the wave and ready to go.
Once he got on the wave he could see his friend from the height of the wave, but his friend could not see Emon. Since Emon was not listening he did not know he couldn’t go to the shore, so he went to the shore to show his friend. When he got there his friend couldn’t believe it. Emon yelled from the top, “told you I could ride the wave now I am the best man.” Once Poseidon heard and saw that Emon’s dad was not there and he was just showing off in front of his friend, Poseidon knew he tricked him so he knocked the wave over causing a flood on the island and destroying all living and non- living organisms. Emon and everyone else died because Emon lied and did not listen to Poseidon. Poseidon warned him but since he didn’t listen Emon had a consequence for his actions. Never tell lies and listen to adults directions because they will tell you what to do and guide you through it. If you do not listen or you tell a lie, something bad might happen and it will be a consequence for that action.
