MTRS Student and Family Update
Dear Students and Families,
The MTRSD School Committee voted this week to approve the hybrid model as proposed in the revised Return to Learn plan (if you missed the meeting, you can watch it here). The MTRS hybrid model is slated to start on Tuesday, Jan. 19. In the upcoming days, please keep an eye on your email for a registration form ALL students must complete (to register as either a hybrid OR fully remote student). Once our students are registered for their preferred model, we can identify student cohorts and set up bus runs.
Additionally, the school committee also approved alpine and nordic skiing as winter sports. Due to impending updated guidance coming out on athletics for youth next week, we did not put forth a recommendation or ask for a vote on basketball until this guidance has been released. The school committee will put this on their agenda for Dec. 21. The winter athletic season will run Jan. 11–Feb. 28. Registration for alpine and Nordic skiing is open, follow the link to signup for Family ID and register.
Contact Athletic Director Vouros for more information firstname.lastname@example.org.
Wednesday, December 16 is a late start day. Below is the schedule:
Reminder from the Health Office
ALL Massachusetts students are required to receive a flu vaccine by Dec. 31, 2020 for the 2020–2021 influenza season, unless either a medical or religious exemption is provided per state mandate. You can contact your child's Primary Care Physician's office or local pharmacy to schedule a flu vaccine. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact the health office ext.1318.
Yearbooks are a very special way to hold on to your high school memories for the rest of your life. Visit MTRS's yearbook page for more information on how to order your 2020-2021 yearbook. Seniors: Please be sure to send your senior photo and at least 3 other photos to email@example.com. For more information for seniors, go here.
The Middle School STUCO is organizing a card sending event during the month of December. Students who would like to participate (optional) will send one card to another student and receive one in the mail (students who would rather email can also do that). During the first week of December, STUCO advisor Ms. Rutz will match students; students will also receive a card in the mail. If you have any questions please email Ms. Rutz: firstname.lastname@example.org
We’re excited to announce our first ever virtual talent show for Mohawk Trail Regional! Our talent show will be held on a platform called Flipgrid that is commonly used for educational purposes in our district. Students AND families are welcome to participate, the more the merrier! (Think Partridge Family meets Tic Tock) Students & Families may upload videos into one of three categories: music, dance, or random talents (comedy, magic, other talents, but no gross talents). Videos must be 3 minutes or less, no exceptions. Please ensure all content (music, lyrics, clothing, etc.) are school appropriate, and appropriate for young children. Submissions are being accepted until January 15th and will be available to view, vote, like and comment the following week (all comments will be KIND and SUPPORTIVE to represent our MTRSD values). Please see this flyer for more information and the Flipgrid link. All students will be presented with this slideshow next week in advisory. Any questions please email Ms. Rutz at email@example.com
National Honor Society
