Presidents of the Progressive Era
Comparison between Presidents
Theodore Roosevelt
Theodore was born October 27th, 1858 in Manhattan, New York. Teddy, or "TR", was born with severe asthma, but overcame the problem by being a very robust and masculine cowboy. He was elected into the New York Legislature. Then, after the death of his mother and wife, he fled to the Dakotas to ranch cattle and live on his own. When he returned to NY, he became the Assistant Secretary of the Navy under McKinley. TR resigned and became a decorated War hero after his stunt with the Rough Riders and defeating the Spanish at San Juan Hill. He then became Vice President to McKinley, and then President after McKinley was shot. He stood for conservatism, peace, and prosperity while always being a man of nature.
