Think Tank in Third

Weekly Update- February 17, 2017

Week at a Glance

Reading/Social Studies- We continued studying biographies for Black History Month.

Math- We are continuing multiplication patterns. We took a deeper look at the number 120 today, as students were very curious as to why that number has so many common multiples. We are confident that taking the time to really look at multiplication patters and common multiples, students will be very prepared when working with fractions in 4th grade.

Science- Last week we used a breadboard to light a circuit and all groups were able to complete the task, which was awesome. This week we took a look at "if, then statements," which help with writing algorithms & giving a set of directions.

Writing- Students continued working on their opinion writing.

NO homework menu this week.

Parent/Teacher Conferences

It's almost time for spring parent/teacher conferences. You do not have to sign up for a conference if you have no concerns, however, if you would like to sign up, you are more than welcome.

**If you do sign up, and we feel a conference is not necessary, we may contact you to let you know a conference is not necessary. However, you can certainly still come in if you'd like.**

Here is the sign up genius:

No School

There will be no school for students on Monday, February 21st & Tuesday, February 22nd. Due to that, there will be no homework menu this week.

MAP Testing

Looking ahead at March, we wanted to make you aware of our MAP testing dates.

  • Reading MAP test will take place on Weds. March, 15th.
  • Math MAP test will take place on Mon. March 20th.

If you'd like your child to get some extra practice for reading before the test, MobyMax is a great place to practice. Your child will go to and sign in. Their username will be the same as their google log in, and their password is eagles3! .

***The "informational text" section will be a really great way for students to practice for this, and other standardized tests. ***
