Welcome Back! #FallForAll
Welcome Back!
Hello Valhalla Community!
I hope you are enjoying the last few days of summer vacation! We are busy preparing for 100% in person learning and we are VERY EXCITED to see you!
Please know that our Main Office is open from 8 AM-3:30 PM Monday-Friday. The information below was sent from our district office last week; I'm including it here in case you missed it. Our school start will look fairly normal, however, we will all be wearing masks indoors. Masks outdoors during recess and lunch is option for students. All visitors need to wear a mask on campus at all times.
School starts on Thursday, August 12th at 8:08am. If you have any questions, please call our office: (925) 687-1700.
Sincerely,
Miss Pappas
We are getting ready for you!

Drop off & pick up safety guidelines:
Dear Parents,
Thank you for following all of our safety procedures at Valhalla. There are two options to . drop-off and pick up your students. You can park in the neighborhood and walk together up to the blacktop or stay in your vehicle and utlize the traffic circle where Mr. Ken and Miss Pappas will be there to help. Here are some reminders to review:
Please do not turn left from Kiki Dr. into Valhalla's parking lot. Only school busses are allowed to turn left into the parking lot, due to safety issues such as children crossing the street. You're also cutting in front of families who have been patiently waiting in the car line to pick up their students.
Please do not turn left out of our parking lot. Again, we have children and families using our crosswalk and it can be very dangerous. Our top priority is the safety of our students and families. Please turn right ONLY out of our parking lot.
Please do not park in our staff parking lot (it is for staff only). We were a little lax over distance learning, but you'll have to now go back to parking on the street if you need drop off or pick up your child. Every single staff space is assigned to a staff member and used during the school year.
Please do not walk through the parking lot. We have staff cars and busses moving through the parking lot and it is a big safety concern to be walking through our parking lot. Please instead use our walkways.
You can walk your student to their spot on the blacktop in the morning. You are welcome to stay through the pledge of allegiance on the blacktop in the back. Once the pledge is over, we ask that you quickly leave campus so we can get our students focused and ready for the day.
You can come and pick up your child from their classroom after school, however, please do not come onto campus until 2:40pm (M/T/Th/F) and 12:55pm (Wednesday) as to not distract from learning.
We thank you for your cooperation - our students' safety is our top priority!
A Note from VPFA:
Dear Valhalla Families,
We made it! We have survived through the strangest (and likely most-challenging) school year in our lifetimes. Pat yourselves on the back for making it through!
The VPFA board is hard at work this summer creating a calendar of events for the upcoming 2021-2022 school year. We are so excited that all students will be back on campus next year and that the Valhalla community that we know and love will be back in person. But we need YOU to make this happen. Without additional volunteers, many of our beloved events wonβt be able to happen β from our Welcome Back Dinner Dance, to Valhalloween to the Auction Gala in the spring.
I mean it when I say that volunteering through VPFA has been the best way for me to meet other parents and make great friends. If you would like more information, please check out our webpage www.valhallavpfa.com and click on the VPFA Manual link. Or you can email vpfapresident@gmail.com with specific questions or if you would like to sign yourself up to help. We would love to have new faces representing our diverse population take on some of the currently open positions. Keep an eye out on Facebook and Konstella for open positions that we need to fill.
We will see everyone at All-in-One on August 10!
Thank you,
Marni Hutchins
VPFA President

Food services update from Miss Anna:
Hello all,
My name is Miss Anna! I am so happy, and excited to be your new lunch lady, and to meet all of you fantastic human beings. This year is going to be wonderfully fun, and delicious!
All students will be served for free this year! Yay! For breakfast, and lunch services there will be one scrumptious item available daily along with traditional milk, fruit, and veggies. Due to Covid-19, and the progression of the Delta variant, there will not be a salad bar available as of right now. Student workers WILL still be able to volunteer during lunch service as long as the parent/guardian approves it, and the student remains masked. Second Chance Breakfast (breakfast at recess time) is still being discussed amongst Food Services. While our menu is still being finalized, we can ensure that we are committed to healthy, yummy and kid-friendly meals. I encourage all families to utlize our cafeteria and enjoy their lunch. I will publish the menu and more information will be available next week.
Iβm thrilled to be a part of this wonderful staff, and community that Valhalla has created. I was a student here once too, and once a Viking always a Viking!
Sincerely,
Anna Barber
