Week at a Glance

A Glimpse of this Past Week...
A short week is sometimes the longest week for an educator!
We hope this week didn't take too much of a toll on you. The administrative team agreed that when the week is shorter, the school environment seems to get a little crazier. Sometimes it even seems a little longer!
Did you attend the January 24 Chris Stefanick Reboot Event at Marian? If so, you can fill out the Catechist Learning Assessment to apply the 2 hours to your certification/renewal! You can also use this for other Catechatical development. Once you fill this out, submit it to Mrs. Novy and the hours will be applied to your certification progress.
The Guidance Department will be continuing to meet with all of our Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors in order to select their course load for the 2018-19 school year. Thanks for being so flexible when students are being pulled from your classes. Most of the student meetings will be completed within the next two weeks
In the light of the Florida school shooting, Administration understands that everyone (staffulty and students) seems to be on a heightened awareness about everything around them. We appreciate it and want you to know that every concern reported to Administration will be thoroughly investigated, as we have thus far, not only for issues of safety, but those of racism, bullying, cheating, and any others as well. Please continue to to pray that we work as a family, have each other's back, and make decisions that are the best for all.
Looking ahead...
Our 2018 Black Box production is well on its way as they have picked their cast, assembled the crew, and are in full force rehearsal mode. We wish them the best as they prepare for their mid-April production. Spring sports have also begun. We know that our students put their hearts and souls into everything they do... their academics, their sports and extracurricular events, and their service to others. As educators, we want to be mindful of this and ensure that the students are able to find a balance with everything they are involved in. Thank you for continuing to support them both in and out of the classroom.
Please support our Marian musicians as several attend the IHSA Solo and Ensemble Contest on Saturday, March 3. They have been working extremely hard to get to this point.
The SIP Team will be meeting this week Wednesday. We will be reviewing PLC goals, making curricular decisions, and solidifying the calendar for the 2018-19 school year. If there is something you feel that the SIP team needs to address, feel free to share your thoughts with your department head prior to the meeting so s/he can bring it to the team.
Mrs. Loy and Ms. Novy are completing our formal and informal evaluations, hopefully within the next few weeks. Once they are completed and, using the course selection data that is generated from the pre-registration of our current 9-11th graders and the incoming freshmen, we will be beginning to meet to offer teacher contracts for the 2018-19 school year. If you have not already provided Ms. Novy with your letter of intent already (due this past Friday) please submit yours immediately so administration can make the appropriate staffing decisions for next year.
A little reminder to teachers... when planning for a substitute, if you planned for a video clip, please leave directions on how to access the computer:
Login to computer: Mariansub
Password: Mariansub17
Also, please be sure that your plans provide the substitute with ample curricular-based activities that will allow the students' progress to continue. Thank you.
Have a blessed weekend and week ahead!
Heavenly Father, you gather us together in our faith journey
Trusting in you, we join one another as a community
A community of faith on a journey
A journey to grow ever deeper in our faith
In our Love
In our Desire to long for you
Along the way, remind us of your Love
Of your sacrifice for us
Of your ever mindful presence
Let us never lose hope along the way
Help us to be strong
Strong in Faith
Strong in Love
Strong in our Desire to be ever mindful of your presence
For it is in your strength and Love and the Graces you bestow upon us, that we can go out and share in your Love and Faith with all those in our community.
It is in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord who lives and reins with you and the Holy Spirit one God For ever and ever, AMEN

Reminder about GCN Training!
Back in August, you should have received an email from support@gcntraining.com titled GCN Mandated Trainings 2017-18. In that email you will find a note describing the way to log in to the GCN online training website. Once in, you will notice that you have a personalized list of trainings that are to be completed by April 2, 2018. These are videos that are required either yearly or periodically (please reference Appendix B in your Faculty Handbook) by staff based on your position here at Marian. This is part of your professional responsibility and important for you to be knowledgeable about, so if you have yet to attend to this, please make this a priority. Suggested times to complete would be during plan periods, over a weekend, in the evenings, or over school breaks. You can do them one at a time... you do not have to take all at once. If you experience trouble logging in, please contact the GCN Tech Team (listed on email) or Ms. Novy.
Once you have completed all of your trainings, please print out your certificate (tab found on your GCN Dashboard), and give Ms. Novy a copy.
