Thinking Maps

You all are doing a fabulous job with your Thinking Maps. Keep up the good work. We have already covered Circle Maps, Bubble Maps, Double Bubble, and Tree Maps. I have placed resources and pictures of examples on Schoology > Resources > Personal.

We have 3 more to cover, so we will meet during PLC on 4/22 and 4/29 to work on Flow Maps, Multi-Flow Maps, and Brace Maps. Bring any samples you have to each of the meetings along with your binder.

I know it is a crazy time of year, but this is an important instructional piece that we need to cover.

Student Computer Pickup Schedule

The end of the year is fast approaching. It is about time for students to begin turning in their computers. Mel has spoken to all of the students concerning fine owed and the procedures for backing their work and file up.

The pickup will be done through the History classes, but I wanted all of you to be aware of when students will be turning in their computers.

Seniors ~ 5/15 - 5/16
Juniors ~ 5/20 - 5/21
Freshmen ~ 5/22 - 5/23, 5/27
Sophomores ~ 5/28 - 5/30

We have made accommodations for life without student computers :). Mel has put together a cart of laptops which are available to you. To use them, you need to reserve a time/date slot in the library. They have to be kept in the library and NOT used in your classroom. There is only 1 cart, so it will be available on a first come, first serve basis. Again, the computers will HAVE to be used in the Library, so please don't assume that a student could come grab one and take it back to the classroom.

Curriculum Corner

Through much trial and error, we have figured out that the current 'Clickers' we have are not compatible with our new computers.

Here are some alternative solutions which can be utilized without actually having 'Clickers' in your classroom. This type of activity would be great for creating formative assessments and quickly check for mastery.

These are all free services which can be utilized via computer or smart phone. They do not require any set up of students which is a great timesaver. There is a little set up on the teacher end and you will need to insert the questions.
