From The Principal's Desk

Tēnā koutou katoa,

I trust you enjoyed the long weekend, bringing with it the new moon, heralding Matariki and the start of the Māori New Year.

The appearance of the 'Seven Sisters' star cluster is traditionally a time for reflection and looking ahead to new goals and opportunities, which links perfectly with the children's upcoming mid-year reports and Student-led Conferences, due later this term. The children will also be enjoying a range of Matariki-themed activities this week, including workshops involving ti rākau stick-games, creating clay taonga and learning traditional flax-weaving techniques.

With Matariki also being a time of great significance for family and whānau, we warmly invite you to join us this friday afternoon at school for an informal Matariki community gathering, including a sausage sizzle and performances from some of the children. This will be preceded by a student council initiative in the form of an 'Entrepreneurs' Market', with children invited to run their own stalls if they would like to participate.

We hope to see you then!

Nga mihi mo te tau hau

Greetings for the new year

Alan Jackson

Principal

The Annual Book Fair

Annual Book Fair

The Annual Book Fair is coming soon. During the week of the 4th – 7th July, we will be holding a Scholastic Book Fair in our school library. This is an important fundraiser for the library and provides a great opportunity for you to view (and buy) some quality, affordable books for your children and encourage a lifelong love of reading.

In order to make this event a success, we need wonderful parent helpers. An hour or two of your time is all that is needed. If you are able to help our librarian, Susan Wallace, process the book sales please follow the link http://goo.gl/forms/RAjINemqr4KZo5KZ2 and fill in the form online. No experience is necessary as Susan will be on hand to help. Please indicate which time(s) would suit you best and please include your phone number of e-mail so that Susan can get back to you. All volunteers go into a draw to win a prize pack…

NETBALL

TPS Netball -w/e 5/6/16

No Saturday games for yr’s 5 & 6 due to Queen’s Birthday weekend.

All go on Thursday for years 1-4.

Yr 4 - Titirangi Kingfishers 6 v Matipo Stars 4

Another great game from the girl's this week against a very well organised team.

They came out of the block's flying and quickly established a good lead with some crisp passing and great shooting and built on that to lead at half time. The Stars showed what good organisation and concentration can achieve and pegged them back, but our girl's looked and learned because in the 4th quarter they were outstanding and clinched the game.

Grace Murray was Player of the day who just seemed to be everywhere and linked up beautifully with all the girl's, great game. Go Kingfisher's!

Yr 3 Titirangi Kakapoes 4 v Holy Cross Kereru’s 1
The Kakapoes are all learning the new positions and playing in no rain was a real bonus! Great enthusiasm and perserverance from all the girls! Player of the day was Kaya Mataiti

Yr 1&2 Titirangi Honeybees v Sunnyvale Twinkle Stars

Great effort against the team from Sunnyvale. Plenty of strong defence from the Honeybees - player of the day was Ylvi Kosleck for her champion goal scoring
