Mrs. Williams - January 2020

November 2019 Book Fair was a great success!

November 2019 Scholastic Book Fair was very successful! Our library earned 3634.21 in Scholastic Dollars to purchase new books for the library. I was able to purchase many books straight from the book fair. Some books were purchased with "All For Books" donations. These books have a special bookplate/ sticker inside to indicate the source of purchase. I will include a special bookplate inside all the books I will acquire with Scholastic Dollars from November 2019 Book Fair (just like I did with books purchased after May 2019 Book Fair) I should have my first shipment of new books arrive this week! :)

Thank you to all the families that visited the library during the Book Fair and made purchases! Not only you're providing new books to your children but you're also supporting the school library!

A big thank you to all the wonderful Book Fair Volunteers! I wouldn't be able to do it all without your help!

Enjoy some of the pictures below from the Book Fair.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Williams

Bookplates

When your students bring books home from the library, you can recognize the ones from the Book Fair as I put a special sticker- bookplate- inside them. I indicate the source of the book (May 2019 or November 2019 book fair or All for Books)

You might have noticed a special donation box called "All for Books" during the book fair. The spare change was used to buy books for the library and to help some students complete their purchases if they were a bit short on change. The goal was to have each child leave the book fair with a book. ("All for books" donations were not used for non-book items)

Thank you to all Book Fair Volunteers!

Thank you to all my wonderful book fair volunteers this year:

  • Natalie Eads
  • Jaime King
  • Katie Biggi
  • Tina Aguilar
  • Denise Clary
  • Daneita Morgan Griffith
  • Michelle Owen
  • Lauren Philips

I couldn't have done it all without your help!

We will have one more Book Fair in May 2020. If we're successful and we reach our goal (1500 in sales) Scholastic will give 75% of total profit back to our library in Scholastic dollars. Couldn't pass on that offer!

Next year 2020/2021 we will only have one book fair during Parent Teacher Conference week in November 2020.

If you would like to help out, stay tuned for more information coming out this spring. I will appreciate any help.

Hot Cocoa Stand

On our opening day we had a hot cocoa stand and we made $35 in All for Books donations! We used it during the book fair to help students purchase a book if they were short on cash.

Each class got to visit the Book Fair during their library time

Each class had an opportunity to visit the book fair during their library time. Students had a chance to purchase a book or just browse and make a wish list. It was also a great opportunity for students to let me know which books they would like me to purchase for our library.

Rewards for Library Volunteers and Students with exceptional library manners

I reward library volunteers when they help with shelving. They get to pick from the library treasure chest or from the reward books. I also reward students for their outstanding library manners. When you see your students bring home a new pen or a reward book from the library, it means they helped in the library or showed their manners.
