Nothing gets people up and dancing like a ceilidh. A ceilidh is a traditional dance night where everyone joins in, regardless of age or ability, and it's a great way to meet lots of people in a fun, informal way.

You do not need to know how to dance, or have ever done Scottish Country dancing before to join in and have some fun. All the instructions that you will need are provided by our very own Iain Carmichael on the accordion as he walks you through each dance first and then calling out the steps during the dance to keep us all right. Even complete novices can join in and enjoy it! The fun part is that most of the dances are done in 'sets' of between 6 and 8 people (in some cases long lines of many more) and these sets constantly change with adjacent ones, so that people get to 'mix' during the dances.

Watch the clip below from last year's ceilidh to get an idea.

Coffee Morning - Friday 20th May

The 3rd PTA Coffee Morning, Friday - 20 May 2016 : Transition to Secondary School
Dear Parents,

Our monthly Friday Coffee Mornings are gaining popularity, and we are trying to get better coffee and conversation going :)

For the next one, we have a topic of particular interest for parents with children moving over to WIS for Year 7 this coming academic year and the next - the current Year 6 and Year 5.

I am pleased to let you know that Mr. Guy Hewson, Director of Learning from WIS has accepted our invitation to be at the Coffee Morning! Parents will also have the opportunity to interact with some teachers and parents at Kennedy whose kids have recently made the transition to WIS.

The PTA Coffee Morning is an initiative to bring the Kennedy Community closer and provide a meaningful interface with the teachers and the PTA! Please do make the most of it...

May I also mention that the PTA is in the process of finalising topics of interest for the Coffee Mornings for next year. Please do send me any suggestions in this regard. I look forward to meeting many of the Year 5 and 6 parents next Friday!

Warm wishes,

Aparna Kanda
