Winter Building Closures
From our Superintendent Dr. John Sparlin
Many heartwarming stories of giving continue to roll in; we are certainly part of a kind and generous community!
Several individual departments, student groups, and classes across the district have adopted families through local organizations helping to purchase gifts and household essentials for those in need. Last week a local barber set up at one of our schools to offer free haircuts. Two different families anonymously donated to pay off all negative meal balances at their schools; at The Wheatlands they covered $1,272 in fees, and at Old Post it was $1,952. Our junior highs joined with Oswego Fire again this year, collecting hundreds of toys with Toys for Tots. We can all appreciate the joy of giving and spreading cheer to others at this special time of year, and remembering the importance of paying forward community stewardship all year through.
I wish you a very happy and wonderful holiday season!
Bus Stop and Route Consolidation
Bus route ridership studies were recently conducted to determine opportunities for consolidation of stops and routes to help reduce delays. Any changes to stops and/or routes will be shared with families prior to the conclusion of winter break and will begin when school resumes in January. Please stay tuned for more information prior to the return from break!
National Board Certified Teachers- Recertified
Congratulations to these SD 308 teachers who join the 336 teachers across the state who recertified as a National Board Certified Teacher (NBCT).
The National Board Resource Center at Illinois State University is excited to celebrate and congratulate these teachers along with thousands of other educators currently pursuing Board certification – seen as a mark of accomplished teaching.
National Board Certification is achieved through a rigorous, performance-based assessment of a teacher’s pedagogical skills and content knowledge. The certification process generally takes one to three years to complete.

ICE SKATING
Lace up your skates and head over to Prairie Point Community Park when the green flag is flying to take a spin or drop a puck on our seasonal ice rink.
