CIMARRON MIDDLE SCHOOL Summer UPDATE 2020

EPS Back-to-School 2020

The global COVID-19 pandemic has changed what school will look like in 2020-2021. New this year is a K-12 virtual learning option, school start times, school startup procedures, and bus schedules.

MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Panther Families,

We knew going into summer these are unprecedented times and adjustments may need to be made. Your patience and grace are appreciated as we plan and adjust our normal routines to assure a safe environment for both students and staff.

We miss seeing you and hope you have a great summer.

As always, take care and be safe. We'll see you soon!

Gabe Schmidt

Principal

VIRTUAL SCHEDULE PICKUP

This year, in an effort to avoid creating unnecessarily large crowds, both middle and high schools have revamped the schedule release process to provide a better experience for our families. Waiting in long lines will be a thing of the past as we deliver your schedule right to your email! There will be no in-person Schedule Pick-Up Day this August; please remove the previously published date of SPUD, August 11, from your calendars.

In an effort to limit the spread of germs, only essential locker items/supplies will be allowed. Items kept in lockers are minimal as it is, with all textbooks now being digital or in-class sets.

Bus information, bell schedules, and lunch information can be located online. Additional information about this will also be sent out when your student receives his/her schedule in August.

For now, it is important that you complete your Annual Update, if you have not done so already, visit (https://edmondschools.infinitecampus.org/campus/portal/edmond.jsp) and submit your Tdap booster (future 7th graders only) to immunizations@edmondschools.net.

These are the first two required items that must be completed before we can move forward with releasing schedules. If these items are not accomplished in a timely fashion your schedule release will be delayed. If you need assistance or have questions please call our office 405-340-2935. Our offices will be closed from June 26 until July 13.

We’re here to guide you through this process as we partner together for the safety of our students. This news brings about many questions about how the process will work. We don't want you to worry. We’ll communicate the details as the summer progresses. Just know that we’re already planning AMAZING things for the new school year.

YEARBOOKS ARE HERE!

Did you miss YEARBOOK pickup on June 23 & 24? No worries! Yearbooks may be picked up in the Cimarron office beginning July 14 during our summer hours 8 am-4 pm Monday-Thursday.

You may verify that you have purchased a yearbook by logging on to www.Jostens.com. A confirmation email sent by Jostens was sent to you at the time you ordered a yearbook online.

Extra yearbooks will be sold for $50 each and will be available beginning when we return in July. If you would like to purchase a yearbook, complete this form. If there are more requests than there are books, we will randomly draw names and let you know if you are drawn.

2020-21 REQUIRED ANNUAL UPDATE

- Log-in, scroll down, and click on the "more" link and then "online registration" in the lower-left corner of the portal screen to begin the Annual Update.

SPORTS PHYSICALS *** NEW INFORMATION

After consulting with our athletic trainers, team physicians, and the staff of McBride Hospital, we are encouraging our students/athletes to proceed with the following advice on sports physicals for the 2020-21 school year. We will provide additional information as it comes available.

Due to the continuing restrictions with social distancing, there is uncertainty whether the district and McBride physicians can host a mass physical event for our athletes.
New athletic physicals will still be required this year for all athletes. Last year's physicals, 2019-2020, will expire July 1, 2020.

We are recommending all athletes get a pre-participation physical on their own. They should utilize their personal family physicians, which is preferable, or urgent care clinics.

Please have them take a blank physical form with them. Below - is a link to a printable physical form.

The RankOne website is ready for all athletes to do all online forms. This is still required as usual.
