Welcome to AMHS

2020-2021 New Student Registration

Message from the Principal

Congratulations on your acceptance to Arabia Mountain High School!!!! I am Mrs. Tanya Mason, the proud principal of this wonderful school, and I would like to welcome you to the 20-21 New Student Registration. This newsletter outlines everything that will be needed to ensure that your student is ready to begin the new school year on August 17, 2020!!! This year has been filled with a lot of uncertainty as we have been faced with COVID-19. However, this does not change our vision and mission for our scholars. Our goal is to ensure that we prepare our scholars for the challenges that they will meet as they matriculate through high school and instill in them the belief that they can achieve anything they put their minds to. We want to ensure that we provide our students with skills necessary that will allow them to achieve success in all areas of their lives and to compete globally once they graduate!!!

Arabia Mountain High School operates on a traditional 7-period schedule. All classes, with the exception of mathematics courses, are taught at the accelerated level. Therefore, it is imperative that our students develop strong time management and study skills. Students should engage in daily study outside of the time spent on homework to avoid cramming for summative assessments.

Summer Assignments

To help prepare our students for the rigorous and robust learning at AMHS, students must complete summer assignments for their core courses (ELA, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies). The summer assignments are posted on the school’s website and should be complete by Tuesday, September 8, 2020. (Click here for a list of summer assignments)

Continuation Requirements

Students enrolled in the Career Pathway and Magnet programs at Arabia Mountain High must maintain a 2.5 or 3.0 semester GPA, respectively to remain in good academic standing and continue in the academic program. Students' grades are reviewed at the end of the fall and spring semesters. If a student’s semester GPA falls below the requirement, the student is placed on academic probation, parents attend an Academic Probation Conference and the student will have one (1) semester to improve their grades to meet the GPA requirement. Students not maintaining the GPA requirement by the end of the school year will be exited from the program.

Parent Portal

Students and parents can keep track of their grades and attendance using the Infinite Campus parent and student accounts. Students can access their Infinite Campus account through the Clever application. Parents will need to download the Infinite Campus Parent Portal application to receive real-time grade and attendance notifications. If you have any questions regarding setting up your parent portal, please visit https://www.dekalbschoolsga.org/infinite-campus/.
