Leadership Team message from Bhairavi
Tēnā koutou katoa,
It is hard to believe that we are nearly halfway through this term. It is so pleasing to see excited and motivated tamariki all around the school, exploring different learning experiences and developing a range of skills to become 21st-century learners. Our kaiako are working on writing mid-year reports and getting ready for the parent-teacher conferences in Week 6.
We believe in building a strong home-school partnership to support all our learners in reaching their full potential. By keeping in touch with the school, a partnership between you and the school can develop that will enhance your child’s learning. Researchers and educators believe that building home-school partnership is fundamental to effective teaching and that families need to be involved as much as possible. We encourage all the parents/caregivers to book the time for the parent-teacher conferences. It is the time where you will be able to discuss your child’s learning needs, and your child’s teacher will be able to find out about the things you do at home to support your child’s learning. This will help the teacher to better understand your child’s way of thinking and learning.
Mā te whiritahi, ka whakatutuki ai ngā pūmanawa ā tāngata
Together weaving the realisation of potential
On another note, on behalf of the Edendale staff, I would like to thank you all for following the mask guidelines when you come to drop off and pick up your child/ren. Also, we appreciate your cooperation with keeping your child/ren home when they are not well. Your ongoing support helps us keep our Edendale kaimahi, tamariki and wider whānau safe in this challenging time.
Stay well, stay safe, and be kind.

Eden Albert rugby tournament
by Blake, Joseph and Luke (Room 24)
We arrived at May Road for the Eden/Albert Central Zone rugby tournament.
Sadly, the first team did not turn up and we got the free win. In the second match we faced Gladstone and it was quite a challenging team because there were really big players and it was hard to tackle them. We won that game 7 points to 4.
In the third game we played against Wesley, they played pretty well and beat us by 6 points to 4, but we had another chance for redemption in the final. We played our hearts out and our legs were killing us but we beat Wesley 6 to 4 with some awesome tries by our team.
That meant that we won the big Foster Cup, we felt amazing, shocked and so, so happy.
A big thank you to Grace Rogers, our coaches Rees Logan and Mark Airey for all the practises, encouragement and support.
Travelwise Monitor - Slow down around school campaign - 10 August 2022
For our first activity of term three our whole group held posters on the side of the road saying “Slow down around schools”.
The main aim was for people to notice us and slow down around our school.
We also had a lot of people smile, honk, and wave at us in support.
Returning to school following an illness
The Ministry of Health has confirmed that the guidance for returning to schools following vomiting or diarrhoea has not changed. If a child is free of those symptoms for 48 hours, they can attend school again.
- If a child has been unwell with a respiratory illness other than COVID-19, they can return to school 24 hours after they have significantly improved and are behaving/eating normally.
- Following vomiting or diarrhoea, a child should be symptom free for 48 hours before they can return.
- If they still have a runny nose or dry cough without any other symptoms such as a fever, vomiting or diarrhoea, then they are unlikely to be infectious and can be considered well enough to attend school.
2023 Out of Zone enrolments
