School status and refunds
Although Governor Walz extended the stay at home order through May 4, the status of schools, activities and spring events beyond that date remains unknown. The District anticipates having more guidance from the state before the end of the month regarding the remainder of this spring. We are in the process of looking at many of the fees that families have paid for services, activities and events that have been impacted by COVID-19. When there is more clarity later this month, the District will be prepared to offer options on refunds for a variety of services, activities and events.
School Board meetings going virtual
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and social-distancing recommendations, School Board meetings will be conducted in a virtual format for the near future. Watch meetings live via web-streaming or watch archived meetings here. If you would like to make a public comment for the Open Forum portion of a meeting please fill out this form to have your comment read during the meeting. Please submit all comments no later than two hours before each meeting. The next meeting of the School Board is Tuesday, April 14, at 7 p.m.
Athletic facilities and playgrounds closed
All school athletic facilities and playgrounds are closed and off limits for students and the community until further notice. Student and community members should not be using any of the stadiums, tracks, fields, tennis courts or playgrounds at any time. In addition, all District buildings will remain locked and closed to the public at least through May 4.
Meals for students
Meals are available for any child under 18 years old who needs breakfast or lunch during the school closure. Parents/guardians do NOT need to bring their student(s) with them to pick up meals. Check school locations here. If you cannot make it to a school site for curbside pick up, neighborhood pick-up locations are offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This interactive map will direct you to the most convenient location.
Irondale and Mounds View stadiums light up for seniors
Every Monday, Irondale High School and Mounds View High School will participate in the #BetheLightMN initiative and light up each school's stadium at 20:20 (8:20 p.m.) to honor our seniors. We miss all of our students, but are especially thinking about our seniors as they navigate this challenging time. Learn more about the initiative here.
