SJP2CA Lower Mills Family News
The Latest On All Things Lower Mills This Week
I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to our students, teachers and families for all of the beautiful cards, personalized notes and Christmas gifts. I was overwhelmed with joy opening each and every one of them. Please know from the bottom of my heart, my sincere gratitude for your generosity and love!
MAP testing is here! The MAP testing window is January 8th to February 9th for students in grades K2 to 8.
A few reminders about MAP:
1. Students must be on time at school, ready to learn! Please make sure that you are at Prayer Service by 7:30am.
2. Students should eat a healthy breakfast!
3. Get a good nights rest, sleeping at least 8 hours!
4. Students try their best! MAP testing is not a timed test, so there is no reason to rush! Some students often think that if they finish faster, that means they know the material better...but that is not true! Take your time, read through all of the possible answers.
5. Embrace a growth mindset and be proud of the progress you have made!

Wednesday: K2A & K2B Reading and Grades 4A & 4B Reading

The best way to measure how much you've grown isn't by inches or the number of laps you can now run around the track, or even your grade point average-though those things are important, to be sure. It's what you've done with your time, how you've chosen to spend your days, and whom you've touched this year. That, to me, is the greatest measure of success." ~Wonder, by RJ Palacio

Lower Mills Innovative Teacher Spotlight
Ms. Alexandra Milot is the K2A Lead Teacher. Ms. Milot grew up in Raynham where she was the youngest of two girls. Ms. Milot came from a family of educators, both her mom and dad working in Catholic Schools. Ms. Milot also proudly attended Catholic Schools her entire life! Ms. Milot is a graduate of Bridgewater State University and started teaching K2 at Lower Mills in 2014. Ms. Milot moved closer to Boston where she lives with her dog, Lizzie, who she loves very much! She also loves the Red Sox! Ms. Milot's favorite color is orange and her favorite food is pizza. She is an excellent soccer player and played most of her life. In fact, Ms. Milot loves to exercise...you can find her at many kickboxing classes or in the gym! She loves kickboxing so much that her assistant in her classroom, Mrs. Cikacz, attends with her now as well! Since 2014, Ms. Milot has consistently had some of the strongest MAP growth and Grade One Readiness Scholastic Testing scores in both Reading and Math in the Academy. She prides her classroom on structures, routines and center based work. Ms. Milot is great at challenging students who are excelling and pushing them to the next level with rigorous work. Ms. Milot has invented her 'ScrapBox-Go Green' Campaign. Families and colleagues are consistently bringing in empty containers, cereal boxes and cardboard to K2A. Students are immersed in this amazing STEM based activity while embedding the concept of 'Reduce, Reuse, Recycle" which is so important to teach our students at a young age! Ms. Milot also loves a clean classroom...she makes sure her floors look like you can eat off them before leaving every night! We are blessed to have Ms. Milot part of the Lower Mills team!
Thank you Ms. Petterson, Ms. Egan and the UCTC home for welcoming us!
