Sponsored Bounce and Climb
Sponsored Climb and Bounce by Alexa and Isaac (school Ambassadors)
We had a sponsored climb for children in Years 3-6 and a fabulous sponsored bounce for Early Years and Years 1 and 2. This sponsored event was very important as it raises money for learning beyond the classroom. This includes the work we do with Forest Schools and outdoor adventurous activities.
All the children really enjoyed the day. When we went on the the climbing wall the objective was to get to the top of climbing wall and hit a button. Most people managed to persevere and get to the top. Some of the climbs were more difficult than others but we all gave it our best shot. All children tried their hardest and are looking forward to how this money will be used to support Forest Schools work.
A large bouncy castle was put into the hall and the younger children bounced for 10 minutes. In Key Stage 2 we also got a quick bounce as well.
Thank you to parents and carers who have sponsored all the wonderful children in our school. Parents can collect the cash and make a donation via ParentPay.
Well done everyone for your brilliant efforts.

Visiting the Fire Station
A visit to the Fire Station By Year 2
We looked at and learned about all the different equipment used by the firefighters, had a go in the fire engine and even practised using the hoses to knock down targets. Then we watched our Tudor houses burn in a replica of the Great Fire of London. The children were able to see how quickly the fire spread through the houses and the sky even filled with ash! As soon as we left the fire station, we saw one of the engines come out responding to a call. We were able to stand and wave as they drove off with the sirens going!
A visit from the Fire station
The fire officers explained how the children should keep themselves safe if they have fireworks and sparklers and they also explained how smoke detectors work and what to do in an emergency situation.
Afterwards the younger children visited the fire engine to see all the equipment. They loved sitting inside the fire engine and the children asked lots of great questions about the role of a fire fighter.
Congratulations to Mrs Bingham
Congratulations Mr Gold
In our Friday worship we presented Mr Gold with a special gift and card to say congratulations from everyone in our Cathedral School Family.
School Update
The children have settled back extremely well and we have been very impressed with their positive attitudes and the perseverance that they have shown in class, on the playground and even when climbing a wall!
Be on time at a quarter to nine!
Thank you to all the children who are on school site and ready to learn before the doors open at 8.45am. Children do quickly transition into class and there are always learning activities ready for them each morning. Gates are closed at 8.55am and we do ask that if you arrive after this time that you report to the main reception.
PE Kit
Just a reminder as the weather changes, that children may need to bring suitable outdoor PE kit into school. Indoor kit should be a plain white T-shirt/school T-shirt and black shorts (white are allowed as we transition to black shorts over the year). Outdoor kit is consisted of grey jogging bottoms and school hoodie (optional). Please see below for examples of kit.
Community Day
Although it is difficult to interact directly with our local community, we do feel it is hugely important for our children to know who they are and the community within which they belong. As part of our PSHE work we will be having a school community day next Friday, 12th November.
If you have any ideas about ways in which you, as a valuable member of our school family, can contribute - eg Zoom chat with a class etc, please do let us know by emailing admin@riponcathedral.n-yorks.sch.uk.
Have a great bonfire night and weekend
