Betsy's Bits

In Case You Missed It:
Week two of the 2018-19 school year seems as if we never left. Thank you all for your commitment to our children and each other to ensure the safety and learning of ALL our students at SLMS!
Don´t forget the SanLee expectation that lesson plans be out and easily accessible for administration to look at when walking through. All plans must include the standard you are teaching, Essential Question or learning target for the day (which also should be posted), how you are incorporating WICOR in the plan, and enough details that a someone could walk in and know what to do. You also are expected to have the EQ/learning target for the day on the board along with a visual for students about what they will be doing in class that day.
Congratulations to 6th grade for getting all their Culture Team dues turned in first. They will have a duty free lunch on Monday with admin monitoring their children.
Please don´t forget to advertise and excite your kids about selling the raffle tickets. The money benefits our entire school. Who will be the lucky homeroom that gets doughnuts on Tuesday? We will find out on Monday...
I know many are having issues with lockers. I appreciate those that have taken the time to fill out the form shared by Jamie and reshared in last week´s Bits by me. This is the last chance to turn in issues. I will cut the form off on Monday afternoon and turn problems into maintenance and order new locks for those that can´t be fixed. Click here for the form.
Joy Wilson, SLMS data manager, has accepted a position as office support for LCS bus garage. The opportunity has opened up because of a retirement in their office. This is a position Joy held previously and really enjoyed. She loves SanLee, but does wish to go back. Joy´s last day at SanLee will be September 28.
Freddie Atkins, SLMS custodian and bus driver, has decided to retire at the end of September. He says he´s tired and ready to give his body a rest from all the hard work at SanLee. Freddie will be using up some of his built up days (use ´em or loose ´em) through the end of the month, so he will not be on campus on Mondays and Thursdays the rest of the month.
Make sure to stop by the counselor´s offices and welcome Alison Poole to SanLee. Her first day is Monday. She will serve and support seventh grade and 8th graders with the last names of A-L.
This is a reminder to check emails and phone messages at least twice a day. You must respond to emails and phone calls (parents and others) with in 24 hours. Google invites do REQUIRE a response (yes, no, or maybe). Please do not leave co-workers and/or parents hanging for information/response from you.
Check your telephones and set up your voicemail greeting if you have not done so already. Shannon Johnson sent directions on August 29:
Select:
- Menu
- Features
- Enter(small button with a check in the middle)
- Messages
- Enter
- Message center
- Enter your password (room number)
- Listen to options
If you are not receiving emails that you have a voicemail, then put this on tracker and Shannon will set this up.
Congratulations to Ashley Inman and family! They are expecting a baby brother for Braxton in March.
