Monday Mission Memo

Interim Superintendent's Message
Greetings, Catholic Educational Leaders in the Diocese of Cleveland,
Welcome to the new format for our weekly newsletter. I look forward to providing brief updates in this space and linking other news and resources of interest below. We at the OCFE welcome your feedback on this communication and others as we strive to serve you who carry out the mission of the Church through education in our diocese.
Just below is a brief Google to enable us to update our information and contacts regarding preschools (which the state considers anything under K). We request you take a moment in the next two weeks to complete it. If you have questions or need assistance please contact Mary Keating in our office at mkeating@dioceseofcleveland.org.
Next week we will send a similarly brief form to collect our Fifth Day enrollment. Like last year, we will collect your enrollments as of day 5 to give us an approximate, unofficial number to assist the many processes and calculations necessary before the official count in October.
Please be sure to scroll down to see other start-of-year reminders regarding safety drills, credentialing, and the Digital Academy update as well as features on some of our new principals in the diocese.
Today at the OCFE we officially welcomed Molly Bullock, our first ever Special Education Coordinator, to our team. We look forward to you meeting her and the rest of our team in person on Friday at the Bishop’s Convocation.
Finally, I am back and refreshed from a wonderful family vacation out West, where I was blissfully disconnected from electronics, so please be patient this week as I dig out from the recent email backlog.
We at the OCFE look forward to seeing many of you Friday and serving you all school year.
In Christ,
Frank O’Linn

Ensuring credentials are in place for the start of the year-Missy Hokanson
We all know the importance of having our credentialed employees in place for the start of the school year. There are two essential parts to the process:
1. Aides, subs, coaches, teachers, and administrators need the directions to apply online with the Ohio Department of Education. The system is streamlined, but it is essential to provide applicants directions to avoid confusion.
2. Applicants must submit the Credential Request Form before the application is approved.
On any given day, I might receive twenty emails of pending applications with the ODE. Before I can approve I need the request form mailed to me to ensure that the applicant is working in one of our schools. Please give applicants both the online application directions and the request form to ensure approval. I have attached forms below for you, but they are also in the Principals group on the Digital Academy.
