Atholton Values
Hello Raider Nation --
As we begin a new year, our school will embark on a journey to define what it means to be a member of the Atholton community. This journey will involve all of our stakeholders – staff, students, and parents. Over the course of the next four months, we will seek to define which values are most important to us as a school community. It will begin with staff tomorrow with our extended faculty meeting. Our meeting tomorrow will examine the history of our school and what makes us uniquely “Atholton.” We will then take this information to begin developing values that encapsulate our history. This work will continue next week in your department meetings on Jan. 14. Students will engage in the discussion during a Raider Time in February and parents will be invited to a Pizza with the Principal to engage in the discussion in March. Moreover, we will engage in conversations on the acceptance and inclusiveness of our school community of ALL members. I am excited to begin this journey our of school’s introspection and working collaboratively to establish values that we all consider an integral part of being a member of the Atholton community. Just a reminder that for those staying, dinner will arrive around 4:30pm.
Tomorrow evening is our Scheduling Night. A huge thank you to those who are participating and representing your respective departments. It is a great opportunity to promote your courses and answer questions parents may have regarding your course and/or department.
On a sad note, when it rains it pours. You may have heard that Carolyn Pilcher’s mother passed away on Friday. Please keep her and her family in your prayers. If you would like to send condolences, you may send them directly to her at: 4431 Keenan Drive Ellicott City, MD 21042.
Lastly, I want to thank all of you for your well wishes and positive thoughts as I conquered my Ph.D. comprehensive exams this weekend. I truly appreciate all of your support and looking forward to beginning my dissertation in the upcoming year.
See you tomorrow and have a fantastic week!
Robert
