Who do I contact for help?
Skyview staff members are available via email and phone. We encourage families to maintain contact with teachers, counselors and support staff regarding concerns.
Camera ON during Zoom sessions
When students are engaged in classes on zoom, there are times that staff will request the student cameras to be on, with first and last names visible, such as:
To build relationships and connect with students face to face
To help monitor student engagement with the lesson and activities
To take attendance
During direct instruction
During an assessment (if students are asked to take under teacher supervision)
If there are reasons that a student needs the camera off, please communicate with the instructor. Our staff will work with individual students to understand individual situations and provide assistance.

Black History Month at Skyview
February is Black History Month. It is important for all of us as members of both the Skyview and greater communities to take time to reflect on and celebrate the significant contributions African Americans have made to our country.
We are excited that our BLAST (Being Leaders and Serving Together) student group and other volunteers will be sharing videos throughout the month that highlight the contributions and achievements of African Americans. THANK YOU to all those who volunteer and take the time to research and create these videos. Our first video comes from Connor L. about George Washington Carver. It will be shown in homeroom and can also be found in this newsletter.
The roots of Black History Month began in 1926 with Carter G. Woodson. February was chosen as it aligns with the birthdays of Frederick Douglass, an abolitionist who escaped from slavery, and President Abraham Lincoln, who formally abolished slavery.
Throughout the month students will receive emails with inspirational quotes from famous African Americans. Growing up is a journey. At Skyview, we hope that students continue to reflect on their choices and use the pillars of character (trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, citizenship) to guide them along the way.
