FUNDRAISING COMMITTEE UPDATE: SLINKS 2018
Just a short note to inform you that due to the threat of Mycoplasma Bovis, Toko School will not be setting up a roster system to collect Slinks this year. If you want to support the school by donating your slink calves we would love you to, but require you to transport them to the Slinks Trailer.
Collection days will be TUESDAYS, THURSDAYS AND SATURDAYS.
If farmers wish to drop calves off at the trailer, it will be sited 300m down Ahuroa Road on the right hand side. Please ensure that your calves are no older than 3-4 days old at time of collection.
This year the collection will start on Tuesday 17th July and conclude on Thursday 11th October.
Slinks will need to be at the trailer by 12.00 o’clock on pick up days.

SUPPORTING LEARNING AT HOME
APPLYING REASONING. This allows students to
-Learn from each other by hearing other students reasoning.
-Listen to a new rationale or viewpoint by listening to how other students solve problems.
-Listen to each others answers to see if they will agree or disagree with the answer.
-Prove their answers and how they solved them.
This gives students the skills and tools to better communicate with their classmates, their teacher and their families at home.
Below are some statements you would hear in our classrooms:
< Do you agree? Do you disagree?
< I agree because . . . I disagree because . . .
< Prove your answer. How did you get that answer?
< How do you know that your answer is correct?
< I did it this way because . . .
< I noticed you . . .
We are finding that when children use applying reasoning they are being much more articulate in their thinking and communicating of ideas.
