Giving responsibility to our students.
As I was walking in the hall this week, I thought this was an excellent tool to help our students take ownership of their behavior. The student on the right was giving out "dojo points" on the iPad to her peers for doing the right thing in the hallway. Peer participation = responsibility. Great idea Mrs. Bigoss.
Immediate feedback (Part 1)
This chart can be seen on every child's desk in Mrs. McGinnis's room. While monitoring the class, both the teacher and para educator give positive feedback check marks when students work hard and are on task.
(Part 2)
Once the chart above is filled, the student has seven different choices for a reward. What a great motivational tool.
ANNOUNCING OUR MAX BEIGH AWARD WINNER!
Congratulations goes out to our very own Kelly McGinnis for being recognized by her peers as being a teacher who goes above and beyond everyday for our students. When I asked Kelly if I could take her picture, she said, "only if Milburn is in the picture with me". In the words of Forest Gump, "these two go together like peas and carrots!" They do an amazing job of "corralling" students with many needs. We are so proud of you Kelly and (Karrie)!
Kindess Week matters! Please check out the video made Sharon Turner on Facebook!
KINDNESS
I've been blown away at how well our students have responded to our intentional acts of kindness. Everyone one of us probably has a great story about a compliment or kind deed that was shown this week.
WEEK
Our fifth graders wrote notes to the "Specials" teachers thanking them for all they do in our school!
MATTERS
How we greet kids everyday matters. Mrs. Badgley allows each child to choose one of the four ways to be greeted every morning.
*Hug, High Five, Pinky shake, or fist bump!
