Keeping our Drop Off and Pick Up Safe
Many thanks to our two parent volunteers Sarah Lachlan and Emily Grover for assisting with the drop off and pick at the front of school.
You can help keep traffic flowing and safe by following a few simple guidelines:
If you are using the green drop off area, pull as far forward as you can and stay in your vehicle.
If you need to get out of your car to assist your child, it is better if you park in the lot to drop off your child.
Remember to take your time and drive carefully, so everyone remains safe. No need to ever rush.
And finally, as part of our overall school safety program, remember that if you see something, say something. If something does not look right to you, please let us know so we can act on it.

SBAC Testing
Greetings Forest Grove Families,
Our third through fifth grade students will be participating in California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress over the next two weeks. Here are some guidelines to help prepare your students the night before tests, the day of the tests, after the test, and when the results arrive.
The Night Before the Test
1. Make sure your child gets plenty of sleep the night before the test.
2. Tell your child you know tests can be hard, but that taking them gives him/her a chance to show how well he/she can do.
3. Be encouraging -- let your child know you think he/she will do well on the test.
The Morning of the Test
1. Have your child get up early enough to avoid hurrying.
2. Make sure your child has a good breakfast on the morning of the test.
3. Have your child dress in something comfortable and familiar.
4. Be positive when you send your child to school.
5. Make sure he/she goes to school on the day of the test (make-ups are difficult to arrange).
After the Test
1. Reward your child for trying hard on the test.
2. Talk with your child about what was learned from the test.
When you receive your child's test results:
1. Don't compare his/her performance to a sibling or a friend's child.
2. Point out your child's strong areas and how proud you are.
3. Talk about the areas of need and how the family can work together to improve those areas.
Our teachers have done a wonderful job teaching our students this year. We expect to have an excellent two weeks of testing.
Sincerely,
Buck Roggeman, Principal
AFTER SCHOOL ENRICHMENT
With plans already being made for next school year, I am once again reaching out to all parents, asking if anyone is interested in joining our ASE program so that new classes can be offered to our students. Our Forest Grove 4th grade GATE students surveyed your students and found out that gardening is a skill our kids would like to know more about! If any parent out there would like to teach a gardening class, please let me know. Also, many students are interested in learning how to knit or crochet. If there is a hobby or skill that you would like share with our students, please contact me!
The first ASE session for the ‘18 - ‘19 school year will begin in September, so registration will open shortly after school resumes in August.
Enjoy your summer break!

Falcon Fest Sponsorships
On May 25, students will celebrate academic success with a fun filled day of activities supported by the Forest Grove PTA. Parents and teachers are already hard at work making plans for another fabulous bash. We are seeking sponsorships to help bring fun, age appropriate activities to our school. Many of these activities are very expensive, and this is why we are reaching out to local businesses and families who would be interested in a tax deductible sponsorship. Our Tax ID number is 94-6171945. Please consider being a sponsor and help us make this the best event ever! Visit: http://www.forestgrovepta.com/ to download your sponsorship form. Have questions???
