ACP MIDDLE SCHOOL - September 17, 2021
Message from the Principal
Dear Knights,
I cannot wait to celebrate some of our wonderful students during the celebration assemblies next week! In one week, 1st quarter will come to a close. It feels surreal somehow even though my tan tells me that it has definitely been a quarter of doing drop off and pick up duty. I am hopeful that we have worked out all the kinks and it is smooth sailing moving forward. With the impending grades, I want to remind you again to be patient with the process. It is ok for a student not to earn the highest grades in the 1st quarter. We want to see progress as we move through the year. It is even more important to realize that middle school is where they can mistakes without it impacting them long term. If you follow the process, we promise to ensure that ACP Middle School students are not only prepared for secondary and post secondary education but will also excel there. I have countless emails and conversations from past students and families attesting to this. So, please allow time for everything to fall into place.
Reminder: please do not respond to the newsletter emails that are sent through infinite campus. They do not go anywhere. If you need to email any staff member, please use the format lastname.firstname@cusd80.com.

Season 2 Tryouts- Boys Basketball, Cheer, Cross Country, Softball, Tennis
Tryouts for season 2 sports will begin Wednesday, October 13 and will last a minimum of three (3) days. Students are expected to attend all tryout dates; students must make arrangements with the head coach if they are unable to attend tryout dates for any reason. Students must complete registration via RegisterMyAthlete.com (RMA) to be cleared by school officials. Students may not begin tryouts until cleared. To guarantee your child is able to begin tryouts on the first day, registration must be completed by Wednesday, September 22nd (registrations will not be processed during fall break). Students who have not completed their registration by that date risk missing one or more days of tryouts until they are cleared for participation.

Getting it Right: Building Diverse Classroom for an Inclusive Learning Community
Mr. Michael Haggen,
Senior VP & Chief Academic Officer, Scholastic
Research shows that reading is paramount to academic success. That's why building a classroom school and library that incorporates diverse perspectives, is an essential component of successful learning outcomes for all students. So, the question remains--how can we provide mirrors and windows in classrooms and school libraries that ignite the joy of reading for all students? The session will focus on research on the power of independent reading through the provision of mirrors and windows. Join us as we explore a transformative framework that uses literacy to increase learning outcomes for all students, one book at a time.
Our counselors are here to support all ACP students.
