This is a Big Week for Gratitude
I appreciate the campus for suspending our regular schedules, our regular "look" in classrooms, and our regular eating habits. (I've heard some say that the goodies we are about to indulgence in, make the headache of the week worth it.) You may have been asked to do something you've never done before - administer a test, monitor a hallway, teach a class to release a teacher to administer a test. Do not hesitate to ask questions about ANYTHING you are unsure of. We have always had a well oiled machine during assessment days and we want to continue this year. Irregularities are not cool. You may be asked to do something you've done every year - administer a test, monitor a hallway, teach a class to release a teacher to administer a test. Do not hesitate to ask questions about ANYTHING you are unsure of. We have always had a well oiled machine during assessment days and we want to continue this year. Irregularities are not cool. I hope you get the point - new or seasoned, be informed and pay attention to every detail so that we can have a clean and problem free administration. Thanks, ya'll.
Finally, thanks to the folks who are actively working to make this whole assessment season run smoothly. Sheri, Catherine, and Kate are working to make sure TELPAS and STAAR are happening when, where, and how the assessment "leaders" are expecting. I can't say "thanks" enough.
Here we go, my friends!
Things to Know
- Dr. Jimerson will be with us this Wednesday to speak about the Bond Election for the district. It is important for you to be aware of the things happening n the district for your voting knowledge but also to answer questions of the community that you may receive. Many of you know that I no longer live in Burleson but I am asked all the time about district/city issues. When I do not know what is happening, it does not look very supportive of district initiatives. Our knowledge and communication is crucial as we support our district and ultimately our jobs and our students.
- Our Enrichment Teams are working hard to make the final preparations for the first grade program. If you have the ability to assist in any way with the program, please contact Debra and/or Jennifer to offer your support. The program will be at Centennial High School next week. We are hoping to get support from the entire community rather than just first grade parents. I hope you will advertise to your students and attend yourselves.
- We have sent our annual residency questionnaire to current families of the Academy of the Arts at Bransom. Please mention in your week communication that all parents (K-4th) need to complete the questionnaire in order to make sure their place is saved for next year. Even if students are not returning, parents need to complete the questionnaire. It will help us know who will be here and who will not. (BTW, fifth grade parents will receive a separate survey that we will share with middle schools.)
- PTO is working so hard to get the Bobcat Color Run off the ground. I appreciate those who have volunteered to help and attend. The success of the event is critical for them because they have no money and they really want to provide the outdoor instruments for our playground. This will be something that really supports our "arts" effort and it will be here for years to come. Talk it up.
- Many of you know that I am not a huge fan to color sheets BUT this is really an opportunity for our school to receive recognition AND money if we all participate. Students can also receive prizes for their efforts. Please help to get the sheets back from students WITH A PARENT SIGNATURE on the back. It an not be used without it. Really, I can't wait to see what our "artists" do with this task!
- Our Relay for Life team is really doing a super job this year with less help than ever. I appreciate their efforts so such. Like with other things, their efforts support the Academy of the Arts at Bransom while they support the American Cancer Society. Everyone of us knows someone personally who is or was affected by cancer. Let's do our part for those folks. Change buckets are getting washed and rinsed to go out next week. Start talking it up.
- Don't forget to share this information with your parents - we are asking that there not be any visitors on campus on STAAR days. This includes lunch visits and class visits for all students on Tuesday and Wednesday. Thanks for reiterating this to our folks. AND Breakfast for 4th and 5th graders is free on Tuesday and free for 5th graders on Wednesday. Talk it up!
