PLEASE READ: Arabia Mountain High School Uniform Update
Arabia Mountain High School is a uniform school. When students enrolled at AMHS, the agreement was for students to wear the AMHS uniform daily. Our uniform is a symbol of pride for the Arabia Mountain High School student. Additionally, the uniform helps our faculty and staff members identify our students as they walk through our hallways. Thus, our uniform also serves as a safety measure in that we are able to quickly identify individuals who do not belong in our building. All students are expected to be in their full AMHS uniform daily. Over the past month, I have noticed students making changes to our uniform and we need your help to ensure that your student is adhering to the uniform policy.
Below are some reminders:
- Mondays have been designated as “Blazer Mondays” all students are expected to be in their blazers each Monday.
- Outerwear: Solid Navy, Hunter Green, White, or Black (no denim or other colors). Hoods should NEVER be worn in the building. Uniform shirts should be worn underneath the school-appropriate outerwear at ALL TIMES.
- Bookbags/Sports Bags: Clear or Mesh bags ONLY. Sports bags should be stored in a gym locker (students should have a lock for their gym locker).
- Shoes: Crocs, Yeezy Foam Runners, Athletic Slides, Mules, or Slippers are not allowed.
Periodically, we allow students to participate in Spirit Days/Spirit Weeks. Students are allowed to dress in AMHS spirit wear or specific themes for specific days (i.e., Homecoming Week, Senior Week, etc.). However, students must follow the school and district’s dress code. For example, students are able to wear an AMHS Spirit Shirt with blue/black jeans (no rips, tears, etc.) on spirit days, no leggings, no shirts showing mid-drifts, sweatpants, cargo pants, or joggers, are allowed during Spirit Days/Spirit Weeks.
Due to the increasing number of students who are violating the uniform policy, we have decided that we will pause Spirit Days/Weeks until further notice. I will announce when we reinstate Spirit Days/Spirit Weeks via School Messenger moving forward. Below is a copy of the AMHS Uniform/Dress Code Policy to review with your student.
