Ford Drive 4 UR Community Event-Fundraiser

This past Friday we had an opportunity to partner with Park Cities Ford for the Drive 4UR Community event. Many of you participated and helped Maple Lawn raise some funds for some equipment for the clinic and Spanish book sets for our students. Ford donated $20 bucks for each survey completed and Park Cities Ford gave $10 for each survey.

I received the final numbers from Ms. Enright. We had 68 people complete surveys and we earned $2040.00!!!! Not bad for a fundraiser from 10-2. We hope to do this again next year and now that we know what to expect I know we will have many more surveys completed. Way to come together for our school!

Lone Star Challenge

This Saturday our students competed in aLone Star Challenge is the elementary competition equivalent to Academic Decathlon and Academic Pentathlon. Nine-member teams are comprised of: Fourth and Fifth graders.

Our students did a PHENOMENAL job!! We placed in every category and won 3rd place out of 112 schools in the Super Quiz live audience contest. In our inaugural year, our students outshined schools that had been competing for years. Their resolve to do their best and countless hours of practicing with the coaches paid off!

Special shout out to Mr. Gutierrez and Ms. Birdsong for all of their hours of preparation and practice with the kiddos to ensure they were ready!! Go Rockets !

STAAR Reminders

Just in case you forgot...

*limit movement in hallways

*No recess until testing is complete.

*No parents in the hallways (if for some reason someone sneaks by positively engage them)

*On time and No absences. We are using all support staff, nobody will be available to cover your class in the AM. Work extra traffic time into your schedule.

*Follow any changes to the specials schedule- clarify any questions you may have.

* Follow the protocol set forth by Mrs. Allen- for the next few days this is the law!

Get some rest and send positive thoughts to our 3-5 students and their teachers who have worked so hard for these days all year. I know we will have a great week!
