Howell Earns Highest Participation & Attachment Rate In FHSD History
Students at Howell are encouraged to get involved and participate in activities, clubs and sports because of the many benefits for students and our school community. This year the 1329 students involved with an activity, club or sport held a cumaltive GPA of 3.6 and an attendance rate of over 97%.
Congratulations to all of our student-participants for their involvement, parents for their continued support and the 38% of our staff that sponsors an activity, club or sport at Howell. Howell is truly a great place to be and our activities, clubs and sports help to shape a great school culture and community.

Boys Tennis Finishes Second At GAC Tournament
Congratulations to the Boys Tennis Team on their second place finish in the two day GAC South Tennis Tournament. The Vikings brought home a total of 15 medals from the conference event. Both Noah Schultz and Jaden Schultz brought home championships in singles. Below you can see our medalists from the tournament. Good luck to tennis as they finish up their regular season and compete in Districts.

Choir Turns In Outstanding Performances At State Competition
It is no secret that we have a very talented choir that puts in so much time and effort into their performances and representing Howell in such a positve way. This past week our Vikings traveled to the MSHSAA State Competiton and brought home several gold, silver and bronze performances. Below you can find the results from State. Band Has Strong Showing At State Competition
This past week our very talented band students traveled to compete in the MSHSAA State Competition at the University of Missouri. Our Vikings had many great performances and had six students earn gold, silver or bronze performances. Below you can find the results from the State competition. Track Sets PR's & Season Bests At Kirkwood Invite
The weather may not have been great on Saturday for the track program but many of the performances by our Vikings were. In the toughest meet in the State of Missouri our track program competed and brought home several PR's and season best performances. Below you can see a brief recap of several of the great performances from Saturday.
Kirkwood Invite Highlights
- The Girls 4x800 (C. Figgins, May, S. Russell, T. Russell) ran season best to place 5th and is now ranked 7th in the State
- Nick Cimmarusti took 8th in the 3200m
- CJ Banton placed third At Kirkwood with a new season best
- Olivia Wansing took 7th in the Pole Vault, tying her season best
- Chloe Figgins placed 8th at Kirkwood in the 1600m
- Taylor Russell placed 7th in the 800m with a new PR
- The Girls 4x400 (Williams, S. Russell, C. Figgins, T.Russell) placed 5th at Kirkwood with a new season best
- Sarah Russom placed third in the 3200m
- Freshman Zora Williams placed forth in her first ever open 400m

Howell Alum Todd Joerling Inducted Into GAC Hall of Fame
The GAC recently announced their 2019 inductees for the GAC Hall of Fame and our very own Todd Joerling is among the 2019 inductees. Todd was a standout football, basketball and baseball player at Howell during the early 80's and went on to play baseball at Missouri State University. After collge he went on to be one of the top softball players in world and was part of Team USA's Softball Team in 2009. Todd is a member of several hall of fame's including the National USA Softball Hall of Fame.
On Tuesday prior to the home baseball game Todd will be recognized and will throw out the first pitch of the game. Viking fans can enjoy free hotdogs, chips and drink prior to the game in celebration of Todd's accomplishment and recognition by the GAC. Congratulations to Todd Joerling on being inducted into the GAC Hall of Fame!

The summer, fall, winter, and spring dead periods and starting dates for MSHSAA sponsored activities has been released for the 2019-20 school year. These dates can be found below. We hope that this information helps all Vikings and their families coordinate and prepare for the summer and sports seasons ahead during the 2019-20 school year.
