The Buzz in the Hive

September 2021

Dear Hunley Park Community:

Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year! I am looking forward to working with you and your child again this year. We are committed to providing your child with rich learning experiences. I personally believe in and take pride in always doing what is best for students. This year, Hunley Park is opening its doors to approximately 400 students in CD-5. We are excited to have our existing families return, and we welcome our new families to the Hunley Park community. We encourage you to continue supporting your child and to participate in the various activities we have planned during the school year. We also encourage you to join our parent teacher organization and to volunteer to be your child’s grade-level den mom, relative or parent. We are seeking two parents per grade level whom we can always count on to volunteer and support grade-level or school-wide activities. If you are interested, please contact our parent advocate, Ms. Matrille, at girmania_matrille@charleston.k12.sc.us, or via phone at 843-767-5914.

If I have not had a chance to meet with you, please make sure to participate in our Grandparents’ Day celebration scheduled for September 10, 2021 from 5: 00 PM–6:30 PM or stop by to chat with me on September 17, 2021 from 7:00–7:25 AM and 5:30–6:00 PM. In order to keep staff and students safe, masks are highly encouraged, and social distancing protocols will be enforced for both events.

We have additional information to share with you, so please take a moment to read the rest of our newsletter. Once again, we thank you for allowing us to teach your child.
