  • Joan of Arc was born in Domremy, NE France on January 6, 1412
  • Named Jeanne D'Arc
  • Born during the 100 year War
  • Lived as a peasant
  • Father attempted to have her married at the age of 16
  • Age 13 she started hearing voices and see visions of angels


  • Voices she heard were Saint Michael, Saint Catherine, Saint Margaret and others
  • She cut off her hair, dressed like a man and walked through a battlefield to see King Charles VII
  • She explained to King Charles VII that she knew how to save France from England
  • She became a prisoner at the age of 19
  • She was excommunicated, accused of witchcraft and on May 30, 1431 she was burnt on a stake


  • She was beatified on April 18, 1909
  • Joan of Arc was canonized by Pope Benedict XV in 1920
  • Today she is knows as Joan of Arc, Maid of Orleans
  • She is the Patron Saint of military personnel, people ridiculed for their piety, martyrs and Patron Saint of France
