Renton High School Week-At-A-Glance
October 10 - 14
Parent-Teacher Conferences
Dear RHS Families,
You are cordially invited to attend the first of two Renton High School Parent-Teacher Conferences scheduled for Thursday, October 13, from 4:00 – 5:00 pm. and 5:30– 7:50 pm. The conference will be held in person in the RHS gymnasium at the PE building across the courtyard.
A parent-teacher conference is a brief meeting designed to discuss your student's progress at school and find solutions to academic or behavioral problems if those are present. These conferences supplement the information conveyed by the mid-term grades. While conferences can take place without the presence of the students whose progress is being discussed, I will strongly suggest that they also be present as their inclusion increases the productivity of the meetings. Please bring them to the school with you if your schedule allows it.
You may confer with any or all of your student’s teachers on a “first come, first served” basis. Please limit meetings to five to six minutes per teacher to accommodate as many families as possible. Additionally, The Counseling Department will send families emails that include your student’s grades if your student is not passing their courses. If you receive this email, kindly try to attend the conference. Families can also access student progress through Skyward.
Visit https://www.rentonschools.us/learning-and-teaching/student-information-services/skyward-family-access for more information.
If you (or someone you know) require an interpreter for conferencing and cannot bring someone to assist with the language, please be aware that we designated staff that will be able to assist in translation for Somali, Spanish, and Vietnamese if needed.
Finally, if you are unable to attend, do not hesitate to email teachers and counselors if you have any questions after you review your student’s grades. All our teachers have dedicated virtual “office hours” that families can join via appointments.
Please plan to join us at our Parent Conference Night on Thursday, October 13th. You will also enjoy appetizers, compliments from RHS, and the Essence of Renton, our culinary club. Your attendance, support, and cooperation are very much appreciated! This evening is also an opportunity to meet with the Admin team, the counselors, and other non-teaching staff.
Warmly,
Dr. Giovanna San Martin, RHS Principal
