Governor's School for Entrepreneurs
Week 2
Hello Parents and Supporters of GSE!
Here's a recap of week two! This week, the E's covered the entirety of the Business Model Canvas as well as concepts associated with Lean Methodology! We had another week full of speakers, mentors, field trips, workshops, instructional forums, projects, autonomous learning and application, team time, and more! If you have social media, make sure you are following us on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and watch our videos on YouTube!
7/3 - We covered the Channels component of the BMC, also focusing on customer discovery. Zac Caldwell came and spoke to the E's concerning his journey as an entrepreneur. Awesome Inc stopped in and provided a Web Development course for our E's. They learned the basics of coding a website from scratch!

7/4 - We focused on Revenue Streams, Pricing Strategies, and Cost Structure! We worked to help E's figure out the best stream for their business or service, and how to price it based on their customer and what they're offering or selling!
7/5 - We kept the Business Model Canvas rolling! Covering Key Partnerships, Relationships, and Activities - the E's immediately applied these concepts to their businesses! We continued focusing on cost structure and the financial aspect - financials are more than important when it comes to the viability of a business - so we want to ensure the E's are prepared to discuss numbers with the judges on Demo Day! Brian Luftman, of American Farm Investors, spoke to the E's concerning Venture Capitalism and Angel Investors.
Later in the evening, we held a formal business dinner for the E's. The E's focused on proper dining etiquette, social awareness, and professionalism!

7/6 - We ventured to Georgetown, Kentucky to visit Toyota! The E's loved seeing lean methodology in action and were impressed by the tour and how smoothly the plant operates!

7/7 - Friday was by far the biggest day of our week! We began the day with guest speaker Todd Pritts from MakeTime, located here in Lexington, Ky. He focused on manufacturing and partnership aspects of business!
At 1:00, Mayor Jim Gray of Lexington came and spoke to our Entrepreneurs. He discussed Lexington's entrepreneurial boom and continued efforts to keep it growing. He also focused on the story of Gray Construction and the lessons he has learned as an entrepreneur! The E's had powerful and insightful questions for Mayor Gray - we are very pleased with how they have been applying what they learn immediately and appropriately!
Later that afternoon, we invited GSE Alumni from previous years of GSE. It was amazing to hear them describe GSE's continued impact on them as young adults. The impact on our current E's was obvious - they took their suggestions and recommendations to heart!
Finally, we ended the day with Fooji, a local social media company. Fooji helps brands create unique and engaging fan experiences, delivered in 60 min or less, by merging chat and social networks with on-demand services.

We are gearing up for Demo Day next weekend! We currently anticipate over 300 individuals in attendance. This week, we will focus on creating presentations, pitches, and tying up loose ends with the E's. Encourage them to work hard and put in their best efforts! We are more than proud of what they have accomplished thus far! We can't wait for you to see the transformation of your entrepreneur from day 1 to day 21 of our program!
