3rd Grade Music Performance, "Let Freedom Ring" coming up February 6th
On February 6th, our Mann 3rd grade students will be presenting "Let Freedom Ring" to their families. Our 2nd, 4th and 5th graders will have the opportunity to watch the dress rehearsal on the 5th. This assembly will focus on the Civil Rights Movement in the 60’s and the role of protest songs within this movement. Some of the events that will be touched on in the assembly are the following: Montgomery Bus Boycott & Rosa Parks, the sit-ins at the Woolworth’s lunch counter, and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have A Dream” speech. Amina Nevels, parent to two of our Mann Mustangs, will be singing.
This will be an outstanding performance as usual under the direction of Mrs. Hauser. We are fortunate at Mann that she puts together such amazing displays of our students' talents. Both the performers and audience members will experience that this program is not like programs we’ve done in the past. This show will be a solemn event that we hope to perform with the respect and excellence the topic deserves. Therefore, there will not be fancy decorations or lively dance numbers. A shared learning experience will be created about this difficult time in our nation’s history, and how music unified us all to move the country in a far better direction.
Summer Bump Up for Rising 4th and 5th graders
