What's Happening In Art?
All of our Thursday Arts classes are working on the backdrop for the Winter Concert! The 4th graders in Mulvey's class are painting cardboard cutouts of snowmen, or little winter animals they designed. Ms. Rapoza's second graders are making snowflakes, and Mrs. Levitan's Kindergarteners are learning about warm and cool colors and are designing warm mittens to hang between trees.
3rd Graders are learning about 3D sculptures and creating Doughnuts/ Pastries.. Stay tuned for a display at the front of the school lobby!!

Winter Concert!
Students have been working really hard to get ready for their Winter Concert on January 10, 2023! The concert will be various times throughout the day, and all the information you need can be accessed in this Smore newsletter: https://www.smore.com/arbd0y
Brand New Drums!
We were lucky enough this year to get a class set of drums! Students have been working really hard on their rhythms, and really enjoy playing "Poison Rhythm" (be sure to ask them how to play!)
Yay for RECORDERS!
For the first time in almost 3 years, students are able to play recorders in class again! We were very cautious of COVID protocols and we are finally able to get the recorders out to play! Students have been keeping their recorders at school, and after Winter Break, they will be given the option to bring their recorders home to practice for class and the May concert (more info to come!).

It's Almost Concert Time!
Students have been working so diligently getting ready for our concert, and we are so proud of all the work that they have put into their performances!
Friendly reminder to practice over vacation (even if it's just moving your fingers through the songs for the concert!).

World Cup Soccer!
What better way to celebrate and learn about The World Cup than by playing soccer! Students have been learning all about drills, dribbling, and the sport of soccer in class. We've loved seeing everyone sporting their favorite soccer gear in support of The World Cup (and our soccer unit, too!)
Introduction to Wrestling!
I know I posted earlier about any former students who are in 6-8th grade about the free 6 week intro to wrestling program starting at the HS. However we have EXCITING NEWS that we are offering this program for any current 5th grade child. So any of you who have a son or daughter interested please click on the picture to register and see the image for more information. Please feel free to email me as well with questions. Thank you!
Library Media with Mr. O'Brien
Awards
Incorporating cooperation with learning about the Caldecott medal, students worked in groups to determine which books in our library they thought were worthy of the KCA. Looking at multiple aspects of the illustrations, from cover design to how well the pictures enhanced the story, students selected their winners and got practice using communication to grade each book. Winners and runners up will be announced before break, so stay tuned in our next issue of Specialist Corner and on our King Facebook page for winners!
Cooperation in Action!
In between typing lessons and checking out some amazing books from our library, students were working on their cooperation skills by stacking books using only paper. Students had to work together to find a way to stack some books, and see how high they could stack. Cooperation at it's finest!
