Depth of Knowledge for Elementary Educators

Listed below are the objectives of the DOK training
- Provide leaders and teachers an opportunity to strengthen their understanding of Webb’s Depth of Knowledge (DOK).
- Identify the distinguishing characteristics of each of the four DOK levels.
- Review sample standards and assessment items based on each of the four DOK levels.
- Explore DOK in order to support leaders and teachers in the development and implementation of SLO assessments district wide
This training is a Lunch and Learn workshop. The cost is $25.00 to include lunch and materials. Please do not forget to order your lunch when you register. If you are bringing your own lunch, the cost of the workshop is $15.00.

Interactive Notebooks for Elementary Educators
Interactive Notebooks have the power to not only engage and interact with each student, no matter the background, but also provide a valuable tool and resource for students to continue to use over time to reinforce skills taught throughout the school year and beyond. Come join me as we create examples for you to use in your class this year and beyond!

Number Talks with Sarah Marshall
Purpose of Number Talks:
Number Talks is a way to develop computational fluency through purposeful practice. It is based on the idea of number strings, a series of equations that are related to and build upon each other. It is useful for all K-5 teachers and into middle grades.
Description of Professional Learning:
· Explore the 8 Standards for Mathematical Practice.
· Identify the key content standards in the areas of Numbers and Base Ten (NBT) and Operations in Algebraic thinking (OA) that are addressed in Number Talks.
· Utilize Number talks to naturally build computational fluency
o Explore the difference between automaticity and memorization
o Design purposeful practice that will build fluency.
o Analyze and discuss student invented strategies that are common in Number Talks.
