Media
Media is a means of communication. Media is a way to mass communicate with the world through newspapers, televisions, and the internet. Over time media has become more advanced with technology. News television shows deliver important information and recent news events through media. Without shows like the news, people would not know about the weather, sports updates, crime in their city, and special events going on. Media helps people stay connected without even leaving your home. Social networking sites help friends, families and celebrities stay connected! This form of media has also developed new meanings, nearly one-third of marriages met online! A lot of people have also become famous from social networks. Being able to connect with random people all over the world that share the same interests allows people to have more “friends” or “followers”. However the media world can be dangerous if you don’t know how to use it. To be media literate a person would know how to use different recourses of media. This can mean creating messages in a wide variety of modes, genres, or formats. People who are media literate know how to use and understand varieties of media. They understand how a tweet works compared to how to make a Facebook status. A media literate person understands that everything on the internet is not always true and that there are dangers to the things you post. Everything posted to the internet is permanent and if you don’t know what you are doing you could post the wrong thing. For example gossip is a big problem in media. If someone were to post a comment about a person instead of messaging it to someone, the person they are gossiping about would be able to see it. Media has changed the way the world works and revolves. People are centered on “what’s happening”. They find out what’s happening through media! We affect media through the things we do and say. To understand media you must be media literate.

What we say
The different things people do and say effect the outcome of media. The owners of different media sources only want to say what appeals to its customers and users.
Time Machine Doritos Super Bowl Commercial
Doritos, in the commercial “Time Machine,” suggests that if you pay in Doritos, you can travel through time into the future. Doritos supports their suggestion by showing a man who purchases a ride in the time machine with a bag of Doritos, and within five minutes he comes out and believes the old man is the young boy. The company’s purpose is to suggest that Doritos create magical outcomes in order to widen their sales throughout different demographics. Doritos used a humorous skit for Super Bowl viewers to want to buy their chips.
Bieber in Buckhead?!
Recently Justin Bieber left hot and sunny California to come join the up and coming city of Atlanta. His 6.2 million dollar pent house is located in the club scene of Buckhead.
Recent complaints of a little girl singing and dancing in the hallways were found to be complaints about Mr. Bieber.
One resident at the penthouse stated “Biebers fans chant in the hallways begging to come into see him. I wish he would have egged them instead of the houses in his old neighborhood.”
Many other complaints similar to the annoyance of Mr. Biebers fans and his singing has caused an issued warning that Bieber needs to leave or he will suffer the consequences.
One night while Justin was hitting the clubs and causing fights he got a message from his mother, “All your stuff is on the street and im not picking it up.”
Justin then in a drunken rage started whaling on anyone in site. One club groupie had this to say, “Bieber can’t hang. He’s that one annoying drunk who thinks he can sing karaoke.”
Upon leaving the club Bieber ran over an obsessed fan, his excuse was she was blocking my way to Selena. Many fans have become outrage with Bieber’s obsession for the much older Selena Gomez and have gone to extreme lengths to make their outrage apparent.
Atlanta Bieber fans are upset they say, “why move here if you’re not going to be with me?!”
The Buckhead penthouse landlord told Bieber, “You need to leave. You’re too much bad publicity and im tired of maintenance smelling like eggs.”
The Landlord took Bieber to court sued him for all his money and deported him to Canada. The Landlord, Jimmy Rock, sold all of Biebers belongings on eBay to crazed fans and is now the richest man in the world. He says with Bieber gone, Buckhead is a better place.
September 11th (history rewrite)
September 11th known to the world as the day the terrorists attempted to crash and bomb the twin towers in New York City. Master minds behind this attack were coordinated by the Islamic terrorist group Al-Qaeda. This Tuesday in history could have gone horribly wrong, involving so many deaths and many broken hearts. world traveled fast from Islam that suicide attempters were soon going to be taking flight on American Airlines to the United States of America. Another airline they planned to board was United Airlines. Once the airlines received this information they notified the United States and the president. President Bush was alarmed and met with a team to begin taking precaution and keep this tragedy from happening. The team he created included, himself and Vice President Cheney, the US head Air Marshall and his team, US negotiator, an Islamic translator, the head of every US military service, and expert hijacking analysis. This type of attack would fall under aircraft hijackings, suicide attacks, mass murder, and terrorism. The predicted deaths would have been a close 3000 deaths with thousands of non-fatal injuries. There were 19 suicidal hijackers involved. The team President Bush put together spent day and night planning how to handle the situation. The thought to enter Islam was too risky. Al-Qaeda knew the president knew about his plan to stop this attack and took precaution themselves. Al-Qaeda leader met with his suicide team to think out of the box and find a way to out smart the US Protection team. He devised a plan pull a trick on the US airlines. The bombers would arrive at the planes with bombs made in tooth paste to go undetected. However, us intelligence had already placed listening devices in all of the terrorists hide outs and homes. Under cover agents had gained the trust of the terrorist group and were in on the bombing. The plan was to board the plane and once in air reveal their true identity and deactivate the bomb on the plane and take the bombers into custody. This would take care of all the criminals on board the planes as well as save thousands of lives. However they still needed a plan to capture and arrest the ground criminals. (Those who weren't planned to fly the plane). Military were sent over to guard the hideouts and homes of the terrorists and were going to capture anyone who left their safety areas. This would hopefully catch anyone in the terrorist group. And it did. The United States were able to capture every single member of Al-Qaeda as well as partnering terrorist members. This day went down in history as a success that saved the United States Americans and protected our sacred buildings. All members of the terroristic group were locked up in a prison on a secret island guarded by a new branch of military made by secret service. The leaders of the group were executed lethal injection. Conspiracies say that they were tortured but no one really knows being that no one can enter the private island.
I rewrote this event to show what would happen if we prevented the attack. Thousands of lives would have been saved.
Love Story theme song for 1984
The song Love Story by Taylor swift would be a good theme song for a movie about the book 1984.This song is about a love that is unattainable like the love between Julia and Winston. In the song, Juliet’s father was keeping them apart and in the book Big brother and the party keep Julia and Winston apart. This song entails the love story between Julia and Winston that is impossible yet they overcome. The song will explain the love story that is about to be shown and how difficult their love is and how it relates to the original Romeo and Juliet. In the book Julia and Winston’s love is impossible because Winston is already married and the party rule is that you can not marry anyone you are attracted to. So along with being married to Katharine, Winston still would not be able to marry Julia because he is legitimately attracted to her. Romeo and Juliet had to set up secret ways of meeting as did Winston and Julia. They would pass notes, meet in secret hideouts, and share their love in hidden bushes. The song says “See you make your way through the crowd” which could foreshadow the meeting Julia and Winston have in the heavy crowd in Victory Square.
"Love Story"
We were both young when I first saw you.
I close my eyes and the flashback starts:
I'm standing there on a balcony in summer air.
See the lights, see the party, the ball gowns.
See you make your way through the crowd
And say, "Hello, "
Little did I know...
That you were Romeo, you were throwing pebbles,
And my daddy said, "Stay away from Juliet"
And I was crying on the staircase
Begging you, "Please don't go"
And I said...
"Romeo, take me somewhere we can be alone.
I'll be waiting; all that's left to do is run.
You'll be the prince and I'll be the princess,
It's a love story, baby, just say, 'Yes.'"
So I sneak out to the garden to see you.
We keep quiet 'cause we're dead if they knew
So close your eyes... escape this town for a little while.
Oh, oh.
'Cause you were Romeo – I was a scarlet letter,
And my daddy said, "Stay away from Juliet."
But you were everything to me,
I was begging you, "Please don't go."
And I said...
"Romeo, take me somewhere we can be alone.
I'll be waiting; all that's left to do is run.
You'll be the prince and I'll be the princess.
It's a love story, baby, just say, 'Yes.'
Romeo, save me, they try to tell me how to feel.
This love is difficult but it's real.
Don't be afraid, we'll make it out of this mess.
It's a love story, baby, just say, 'Yes.'"
Oh, oh.
I got tired of waiting
Wondering if you were ever coming around.
My faith in you was fading
When I met you on the outskirts of town.
And I said...
"Romeo, save me, I've been feeling so alone.
I keep waiting for you but you never come.
Is this in my head? I don't know what to think."
He knelt to the ground and pulled out a ring and said..
"Marry me, Juliet, you'll never have to be alone,
I love you, and that's all I really know.
I talked to your dad – go pick out a white dress
It's a love story, baby, just say, 'Yes.'"
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh.
'Cause we were both young when I first saw you...

Reflection
Taking this class has taught me to wright deeper and really think about what I am writing. This class has helped me comprehend more and learn more life lessons and things that will help me in college. Media literacy has taught me how much media affects the world and how careful you have to be. This class is based more on learning and creativity rather than memorization of vocab or writing about some old historic work that will be outdated soon. This class is changing the way we learn and making me learn the way students will learn in the future. I have learned that a précis is a four sentence summary of a literary work that specifically summarizes the whole text. I have learned that the précis has to tell the whole story and sentences cannot be vague. I have also learned about all the different types of media and how everything you post to the internet is permanent. I learned that a précis can be written on anything for example the Doritos commercial from the super bowl. That assignment helped me realize I need more information in the précis and to make the sentences fuller and deeper. I learned how to write a parody, a piece of work that makes fun of another work. This concept was fun however hard for me to grasp. I enjoyed the hashtag assignment and getting to hear other student’s funny skits with hashtags. In this class I also learned how the media can write something and many uneducated people are so gullible they believe whatever is written. Even many educated people! I learned to be cautious about what I read and question everything. To make this class better for the future more writing assignments would be a good idea. I personally enjoyed having to write essays about what we learned but only if I really understood the topic. Overall I really enjoyed this class and am going to miss it.
