21 Sports ... 1 Team ... WE ARE HOBART!
I know it's a few days early, but let's all be THANKFUL that it's time for BricksCenter!
Girls Swimming & Diving
The Lady Brickies sent a message early with a "W" in the 200 medley relay (Emma Wright, Ana Tepavcevich, Becky Lozano, Delaney O'Brien) and then that same group put the "nails in the coffin" by getting another "W" in the final relay of the night - the 400 free!!
Hobart had so many "W"'s that we might have to start writing it as girls sWimming!
Along with the two relays mentioned above, the Lady Brickies had three underclassmen who each won two individual events:
Sophomore Emma Wright in the 200 IM and 500 free
Junior Becky Lozano in the 50 free and 100 fly
Sophomore Delaney O'Brien in the 100 free and 100 back
Our lady divers, for the 2nd meet in a row, swept the top 3 spots! Granted, Portage didn't have any divers, but it wouldn't have mattered if they did :) ... our girls were TERRIFIC with sophomore Alivia Ahner taking 1st, freshman Sydney Arias in 2nd and senior Mackenzie MacRoberts in 3rd
It was a TOTAL TEAM EFFORT from the girls as we needed every point we could get to hold off the Indians!! Rounding out the depth that helped secure the "W" were sophomore Ana Tepavcevich taking 2nd in the 200 free and 100 breast, freshman Morgan Sanchez taking 3rd in the 100 free and senior Nina Rucinski placing 3rd in the 100 fly.

On Tuesday at Griffith, the Panthers got going early and jumped out to 9-5 lead after the first 8 minutes of play. The "Bricks" started to "swish" more often in the 2nd quarter as Hobart poured in 14 points, but Griffith responded with 17 of their own to lead 26-19 at the break. Hobart came out with some pressure D-D-D-DEFENSE in the 2nd half and cut the lead to 3 on multiple occasions ... however, Griffith always seemed to have an answer. It looked like our 1-3-1 trap would be the key to get us over the hump in the 4th quarter, but the Panthers held on and scored the games last 8 points to win 55-43. The Brickies were led by a trio of double-figure scorers - junior Trinity Collins led with 12 points ... junior Grace Nestich and senior Sam Vode each scored 11. Collins also cleaned the glass with 7 rebounds and Nestich picked some pockets in route to a team leading 5 steals.
On Saturday night, the Lady Brickies welcomed the River Forest Ingots to town for our home opener. After a tough loss on the road Tuesday, it was BOUNCE BACK time for our girls and BOUNCE BACK THEY DID! Pressure D-D-D-DEFENSE once again helped Hobart find some easy baskets ... but every time it looked like the Lady Brickies would start to extend the lead, timely shooting kept the Ingots in it - trailing by 3 after the 1st quarter, only by 2 at the half, and still within reach after 24 minutes. In the 4th quarter, our girls found another gear and were able to finally put them away. On a cold night, the girls heated it up in the last quarter and won going away by the score of 64-46!!
