First Grade Has Started the Year off Strong!
PBIS Assembly
We enjoyed a visit from Parker “Basketball” Jones on Wednesday, September 20 th! He is the son of Jim “Basketball” Jones, a frequent visitor to Copopa. Parker shared how to stand up for each other, how to be a friend not a bully, and how to show pride, respect, integrity, and empathy. Students played “Simon Says” and had a dance-off to win a stuffed animal Yeti. Ms. Brendza’s 4 th grade class won the Yeti with the help of the amazing dancing skills of Gabe Awada.
Parker’s assembly focused on making good choices, respecting
others, being responsible, and being safe. Students learned that they “Own Their Effort”. In other words, students can have pride in their school and themselves, encourage others, think before they act, and become “Patient Listeners”. Parker showed amazing skills with a basketball and was thoroughly entertaining for staff and students alike!
First Grade in Action!
To end our first CKLA Skills Unit the first grade participated in the Fable Olympics. These are pictures from our egg relay that went along with the fable, The Goose and The Golden Egg. First graders also had to leap like the fox in the fable The Fox and the Grapes to see if they could reach the "grapevine". We also had fun to seeing who could balance the "milk pail" on their head. This event went along with the fable, The Maid and the Milk Pail.
