Welcome back Lakehoma Family!! I hope everyone had a wonderful and relaxing summer break. As we get back into the swing of things this school year, I'd like to remind everyone about the 7 Mindsets that MPS uses in conjunction with our academic curriculum. 7 Mindsets is a researched based curriculum that encourages a growth mindset and helps build meaningful relationships between students and teachers and students and their peers. Each month teachers will cover one of the seven mindsets through short daily meetings. Teachers will also be looking for students who encompass the mindset they are working on to nominate a student for the Mindset Award. It is important to discuss the mindsets at home with students to reinforce a growth mindset.
The Care Center will be presenting the ROAR program in September. If you would like more information about this program feel free to visit the Care Center website at https://carecenter-okc.org/we-educate/roar/. More information about this program will be coming home soon.

Kindergarten
We are so glad to back with our Kindergarten friends! August flew by and we have enjoyed getting to know our students. We will jump right into September and continue to learn our lettters, but now we will focus on letters for a week at a time and really get to know them! We are also going to practice writing our names and form our letters correctly. Our themes for September are Letters and Fall/Apples these are incorparated with reading and math. We will start using Lexia in class this month this a computer based program that helps with reading and math skills. We have started going to the library and checking out books make sure your child brings their book back after you read to them. When you send water bottles to school for lunch and snack please make sure there is only water in the bottle. Unfortunately, there are many spills and it makes a sticky mess. It is also helpful for students to have an extra pair of clothes in their backpack. Thank you for sharing your children with us. We look forward to fun year as team with you!
