Mrs. Allen's Online Welcome Letter to Parents and Students

Welcome Parents and Students!

Welcome to Georgia Virtual School's Spring Semester 2017. Please read the following newsletter very closely as it contains very important information for beginning your GaVS course. Course and school policies will be covered as well as important information to help you get off to a great start! This semester I will be teaching Psychology AB, Psychology A and World History A. We will work together as a team to have a successful semester. Please feel free to call or e-mail me with any questions, concerns, or comments you may have. Below is just a little information about me.

VERY IMPORTANT!

Student Orientation Must Be Complete Prior to the First Day of Class!

Welcome to Georgia Virtual School. I will be your student's teacher. The student’s first task is to complete the Student Orientation Course. It is important to complete topics in order and complete all items on the checklist.

The following items are required for the completion of the Student Orientation Course (SOC):

  • students complete all sign off
  • students complete all agreement quizzes
  • students make a 100% on the final Student Orientation Quiz.

OR

  • Students may choose to opt out of the Student Orientation Course; however, students who elect to opt out of the Student Orientation Course are still responsible for all content presented in the course.

Students must finish or opt out of the SOC before gaining access to the course. Student Orientation Takes a full 24 hours to process after completion. Following successful completion of the SOC, the date on which students will gain access to the course is dependent upon which schedule was selected at the time of registration.

The Parent Account gives you information about your child’s grades and progress in their course. Each week you will receive an automated email with your child’s grade range in each of his/her classes. If your child’s grade drops below a 70, you will receive a phone call from me.

In order to view your child’s progress, you will need to have a parent account within our Student Information System and your account must be linked to your child’s GAVS account. If you already have a parent account please do NOT create a new one. If you have never created a parent account or you have not linked to your student’s account, follow the steps listed below.
