What caused the U.S. to enter WWI?
German submarine sank more ships that carried American passengers so the U.S. got mad at Germany and soon declared war on Germany.
How did Texas play an important role during the war?
Recruits trained to be soldiers at camps near Fort Worth, Waco, Houston, and San Antonio. The railroad network in Texas helped move men and equipment quickly.
How did WWI end?
WWI soon ended after Germany surrendered in November 1918.
The Great Depression

Herbert Hoover's Involvement
Herbert Hoover took office as President of the U.S. and he had many attempts to get the U.S. out of the Great Depression but all attempts failed.
How did FDR, (Franklin Delano Roosevelt) pull the country out of depression?
Roosevelt launched the New Deal. This series of domestic programs aimed to fix problems brought by the Great Depression. The programs included relief for the poor, jobs for the unemployed, recovery for the economy, and economic reforms to prevent another depression.
What caused the Dust Bowl and how did it affect farmers in Texas?
The demand for wheat was very high. High wheat prices led Texas farmers to plant more of that crop.
Which New Deal programs were important to Texas?
Representative Sam Rayburn of Bonham, Texas, was one of them. He sponsored a law aimed at reforming how stocks were traded to prevent another stock market crash. In 1937, he became Speaker of the House and led that chamber in approving bills that Roosevelt wanted.
How were tenant farmers and miners affected by the Great Depression?
Crop prices fell therefor Farmers suffered.

The state's favorable climate and wide-open spaces led the army to make Texas its main training ground during the war.
How did life changed for Texans on the home front during World War II?
Texans lives changed because of everything going on during war time. Texans helped with training the troops women started helping and many different things happened which made their lives change.
