It is a stressful time of year, especially for seniors who are trying to make college decisions, plans, and continue on with your senior year! Remember Mrs. Moser and Mrs. O'Connor are here to help you navigate the way! This newsletter is a compilation of what was covered in School to Career class, as well as a one-stop shop for all the scholarship tools you need! Read below for helpful links and reminders.
It's Taxes & FAFSA season! Don't Delay!!!
It's time to make those tax preparation appointments. Did you know EducationQuest will set up FREE appointments to fill out your FAFSA? Just bring in your taxes and make that phone call! See below for direct links and utilize what EducationQuest has to offer (for FREE!)
**CAUTION: If you fill out the FAFSA on your own, be sure to use the FAFSA.gov website... not using the government website (such as .com or .org can be costly!!!)
Susan T. Buffett Scholarship (Deadline Feb 1)
The Buffett Scholarship is one of the most common scholarships awarded based on an "average" financial status. Students with an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) below $15,000 are encouraged to apply.
Requirements include:
- Minimum 2.5 GPA, first time freshman into college (students who have taken dual credit in high school still eligible)
- Attend a Nebraska public college (UNL, UNK, UNO, NCTA, Chadron, Peru, Wayne or any SCC or community college)
- Requires an essay and letters of recommendation

Quick application tips... to avoid your application being tossed to the side!
- Always TYPE the application ~ be sure to download off Counseling Center website for typing accessibility. Otherwise you won't be able to type into it.
- Double check you have read and followed all the directions.
- Details, details... did it ask for a signature?
- NO blanks! (remember to use N/A if it is not applicable)
- Follow due dates... don't turn it in late! It will be dismissed.
Submitting Scholarships
- Submit to Mrs. Moser or Mrs. O'Connor when complete
- We will add a transcript for you (if needed) and also handle the postage
- Be sure to submit prior to the due date (pay attention to postmark dates)
- Local scholarships can be turned in the day it is due
