State Competitions
Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) - Early Childhood Education
Abigael Swann placed 3rd in ECE Instructional Support—Abby read a story to preschool children and created a follow-up lesson with a focus on cognitive skills, fine motor and creativity.
Abril Rodriquez and Daisy Sanchez placed 2nd in Chapter Service Project. Daisy and Abril created a display board and shared information about our Read Across America day where Ed Profession and ECE students went to two preschools and read books to children from one to five years old.
FCCLA Fashion & Design
Fashion student Cynthia Olvera Lopez competed in a reuse, redesign project using a quilt to create her own unique fashion design.
Educator Rising - Education Professions
Freshman Kylee Hope and Karma Thornton worked with Junior Peyton Juve on presenting their Chapter Service Project: Making It Count / Cards for Senior Citizens.
They organized making cards for senior citizens receiving Meals on Wheels and people living at Prestige Assisted Living. Because they were a mixed level team, they competed against Juniors and Seniors. They earned bronze, missing silver by ½ point.
Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA)
Please help us congratulate HOSA advisors Nancy Schweigert and Julie Zemojtel along with their members who competed at state competition and have qualified for Internationals in Nashville!
Lauren Intac 3rd place
Nursing Assisting provides members with the opportunity to gain knowledge and skills required for patient care in medical settings.
This competition event consisted of 2 rounds. Round One is a written, multiple-choice test. The top scoring competitors advance to Round Two for the skills assessment.
This event aims to inspire members to learn more about the field of nursing and how to provide quality care.
Tin Vu - 3rd place
Pathophysiology provides members with the opportunity to gain knowledge and skills regarding pathophysiology concepts.
This competition event consisted of a written test with a tie-breaker essay question. This event aims to inspire members to learn about the anatomy and physiology of human diseases impacting the health community.

Physical Therapy provides members with the opportunity to gain knowledge and skills required for assisting patients with recovery.
This competition consisted of 2 rounds. Round One is a written, multiple-choice test. Top scoring competitors advance to Round Two for the skills assessment.

SkillsUSA
Jacob Magdaleno and Dylan Caton - Silver Medal
SkillsUSA traveled to Phoenix April 18th-20th. Students participated in Advertising Design Contest.
Jacob and Dylan competed in a short film production. They chose self-motivation as their topic. The video had to be 3 mins or less and was completed in a few hours. Check it out at the link below!

Music and Audio Field Trip to Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences (CRAS)
Seventeen of Mr. Brindis’s advanced students visited CRAS on April 06, 2022. They visited the Gilbert campus where they saw all five of the studios designed for Recording, Mixing, Live Sound, Game Sound, Film Sound, Broadcast and Sports sound.
They received studio demonstrations as well as hands on time with the instructors and gear!
They also visited and toured the Saltmine Studio Oasis, one of the premier recording studio destinations in the Phoenix area.

Career Center Spotlight - Francine Galea
Francine Galea was born and raised in Hazleton, Pa. She earned her AA degree in Criminal Justice from Luzerne County Community College. She worked for the Hazleton Police Dept. as a dispatcher for 3 years.
Her parents retired to Lake Havasu to get away from the winter weather, and she soon followed.
She has been in Lake Havasu since 1995. She worked for Dr. Burt. Faibisoff as a scheduler/receptionist for 8 years. This is her 20th year with the school district. She was hired on at Daytona Middle School. She found her passion working with high school students guiding them to be college and career ready.
She is married with one daughter. She enjoys the outdoors, running, watching sports, and cooking Italian food.
One thing you may not know about her, she has a fraternal twin sister.
