Which liquid

Purpose statement

The purpose of this experiment was to see which kind of liquid helps plants grows plants best as shown in the results section. I became interested in this experiment when i found it on the internet. The information gained from this experiment will help others find a use for leftover liquids.


On the average, a 64 ounce cup of pop has 45 little sugar cubes in it. This means that for every ounce of pop, 70 percent is sugar. Soy Milk has the least amount of sugar in it.

Most pumpkin varieties take between 85 - 125 days to mature.Pumpkins are usually orange but can sometimes be yellow, white, green or red. Scientifically speaking, pumpkins are a fruit (they contain seeds) but when it comes to cooking, they are often referred to as vegetables. Pumpkins are popular decorations during Halloween. A carved pumpkin illuminated by candles is known as a ‘jack-o-lantern’. The tradition is believed to have come from Ireland, where they used to carve faces into turnips, beet and other root vegetables as part of the Gaelic festival of Samhain.


My hypothesis is the plant will grow best with coffee. I base my hypothesis on coffee has the most amount of caffeine in it.

  1. Go to the store and buy seeds

  2. Soak the paper towels in the different liquids

  3. Put the seed into the paper towels

  4. Place the seed in the bag

  5. Place the bags on a pan in the sun

  6. Look at the seeds every day

The original purpose of this experiment was to to see which kind of liquid helps plants grows plants best. The results of the experiment were that water worked the best.

My hypothesis was the plant will grow best with coffee. The results indicate that this hypothesis should be considered wrong. Based on the results of this experiment I would use water to make my plants sprout first. If I were to conduct this science fair project again I would try different liquids
