Chronic Attendance Update-17.1%

Our goal for the year is 19% chronic attendance (37 students) currently we are at 17.1% (34 students).


Shout out to Carranza (80%) and Plummer (73.9%) for having the highest satisfactory attendance.


Shout out to Plummer (13%) for having the lowest chronic attendance and no students with severe chronic attendance.

Important Information-ALL

Extended time away from school and predictable routines can cause stress and anxiety for some students. Please ensure that you are supporting students during this stressful time.


Please remember to distribute Scholar Dollars to students for meeting expectations.


Please ensure you sign in and out daily


All confidential or personal information should be printed in the library and picked up promptly.

Grade Reporting and End of Trimester:

  • AERIES is open for grade reporting
  • End of Trimester 1, Friday 11/9 (minimum day)
  • Deadline for submitting grades to AERIES is Wed 11/14 @ 4pm
  • Report Cards sent home, Friday 11/16
  • Parent-Teacher Conferences, Wed 11/28 - Fri 11/30

Best Practice of the Week - Review

Vocabulary Instruction:
  • focused on Tier 2 words across the content areas
  • supports readers below grade level, English language learners and students with IEPs


Graphic Organizers:

  • can be a scaffold for students
  • can be used across the content areas
  • help students organize their thoughts and ideas for answering questions,

  • function as a pre-writing tool

  • provide a visual display of information.

  • are an easy way to differentiate instruction for a variety of learning styles.


Participation Protocols for equitable voice:

  • allows all students to participate in sharing their thinking, academic discussion, and checks for understanding.
  • increases engagement and accountability
  • can be the whole group (silent signals, shout out, etc)
  • or can be individual (pulling of sticks, cards or rolling of the dice)
  • allows equitable student voice


Do Nows:

  • can either be a review of previous material or a prep for upcoming material
  • should be able to be done independently by students
  • only should take 10 to 15 minutes of instructional time
  • should be consistent


Bulletin Boards should:

  • align with a current unit of study
  • showcase student work and learning
  • include the teacher name, grade and learning objective
  • be updated often
