Mariner Update Parent Edition
Volume 12 Issue 23
Message to families
Mariner Family,
As we navigate our Mariner Ship through the month of February, continue to focus on the fact that your daily parenting effort at home and your communication with your teacher(s) is appreciated by your teacher, our front office staff and your principal.
As we move forward, we will continue to build our culture together. We will continue to focus and refocus on our mission and how we function as a learning community to bring about high levels of learning for all students. We will also focus on our vision. Vision can be defined as, who do we need to become as a school, as a staff, as parents, as students, in order to build a system that is in control of itself and delivers high levels of student learning and a welcoming, safe environment? Who do we need to become in order to build a culture of continuous staff learning, parent learning, student learning, in order to function as a team that provides high levels of learning for all.
If we were a car, I would say that we have all of the necessary parts to the car, and our goal is to keep working together to put the parts together in a way where they function as a top performance vehicle. With professional development for staff and parents and on-going communication, we can continue to develop into a top performing school where everyone is learning at high levels and all are provided a safe and welcoming environment.. I can recall the words of one of my mentor’s in this type of moment. He would say, “Isn’t this exciting!” We have what it takes and we will continue to develop together. Believe in yourself, and believe in each other. Enjoy the journey together.
In Partnership,
Mr. Candelaria

Elementary students are rewarded at the end of the month for filling out their agendas. Kinder thru 2nd graders are rewarded for filling out their calendars. Students who had every day on their calendars or agendas filled out with parent signatures were entered into a raffle and were given a “signature” bead necklace. The students are encouraged to see how many “signature” bead necklaces they can collect. Names were drawn from the raffle and I took my “Punch Board” around to the classrooms for the raffle winners to win a prize. The prizes range from more “signature” necklaces to free dress to wearing a hat to mariner money. The classes enjoyed celebrating their peers punching the board and winning a prize.
