All details, volunteer opportunities, and donations needed are listed under each Field Day link. Any questions, please email Mrs. Scales (Stapleton) with any questions! This week in Kindergarten we explored plants! We had a great time learning about how they grow, pollinate and germinate! We loved learning about seeds, bulbs and spores and how they grow plants differently.

We also talked about conversation and what we do to protect our environment. We can’t wait to use the different things that we learned on Earth Day!

First Grade

This week in Ms. Molnar’s Class we talked about perseverance. We discussed continuing to try even when things get hard. We even finished up our chapter on measurement in math.

In reading Mrs. Beckman’s class read the narrative nonfiction story “Mia Hamm: Winners Never Quit” and learned about syllables. In math we finished our unit on 3D shapes and are getting ready for 2D shapes next week!

Have a great weekend!

Second Grade

The second-grade team decided to paint “character rocks” for ORCA Day. The students painted smooth stones with a character trait that represents our ORCA core values. When dried, the students organized the stones into our first ever character garden. The garden is located to the left of the playground beside the picnic table.

Third Grade

This week in 3rd grade, students are starting to learn about different biomes for our upcoming biome day. Each class will decorate their room and we will have rotations to learn facts about each biome.

All of our students enjoyed Orca Day. Classes did rotations to help learn more about our school’s core values.

Don’t forget the Fun Spot permission slip is due Friday, May 3!

Hope to see you all at Astronomy Night!

Fourth Grade

Press’s class has been working with measuring angles using all of the various methods that might be on the FSA.

Fifth Grade

Sixth Grade

The 6th grade classes took part in Orca Day in various ways. It was a nice reminder to slow down and remind the students that education is not all academic-based, but also the social-emotional learning aspect of it, too. Some classes made friendship bracelets, others decorated t-shirts with inspirational messages, a few groups paired with 3rd graders to explain what being a “good egg” is and how important it is to take time for others. From making masks, to cards for a local nursing home, to a healthy mini-physical challenge outside- the students enjoyed the day. Special thanks to the Lyon’s family for donating Popsicle's and to Publix who donated recyclable totes to reduce the consumption of plastic in the environment.

National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) Grades 5th-6th- painted letters for the administration in celebration of Orca Day. The students are proud to be part of the OSS Family and wanted to show their appreciation for them.
